Been here, done this. I even have examples of how it‘s a no-win proposition. I am absolutely always wrong, even if I‘m actually right. Yet my family doesn‘t seem to understand why I think this. 🙄

Riveted_Reader_Melissa Yep...story of my life!🙄. We need to start a club! 6y
GingerAntics @Riveted_Reader_Melissa I didn‘t know this was that common. Perhaps we should. 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @GingerAntics I always assumed it was a girl in this society thing. Even growing up you either didn‘t care enough or you cared too much, were uncaring or too soft hearted, either way you were doing it wrong... you should have helped more or stayed out of it...whichever you picked, guaranteed someone will tell you why you should have done the other. 6y

GingerAntics @Riveted_Reader_Melissa true...but to so blatantly say it? I‘m talking more about if it happens this way, it‘s your fault, if it happens the other way, it‘s your fault, all from the same person. 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @GingerAntics That‘s a person you need to spend less time with, because they always want to blame you. 6y
GingerAntics @Riveted_Reader_Melissa that‘s hard to do when that person is the person raising you. 6y
GingerAntics @Riveted_Reader_Melissa that‘s just how some families function. 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @GingerAntics It‘s funny, but I immediately assumed it was a parent...sometimes we have the most dysfunctional relationships with them, because honestly they are the only ones we‘d put up with that behavior from. We couldn‘t leave as children, so we learn how to live with it....but if you met anyone else who treated you the same way, you wouldn‘t hang around with them much. Guess that‘s why there‘s an old saying about “can‘t pick your family”... 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa ...and a newer one about “the family you pick, not the one you‘re born with”. 6y
GingerAntics @Riveted_Reader_Melissa right? I always think of that, too (both sayings really). It always seems to be our parents who don‘t understand why we think that, or why we let others walk all over us. In my case, it went a little further. It was sort of the family thing that if something was going to be messed up, I probably did it. The whole “black sheep” thing. 6y
