2/5⭐ A weird combo of proper contraindication/safety warnings, false info, & bizarre/unrealistic foods to avoid (e.g. oranges, black pepper). The sources are just a list of notes in the back with no access dates or in-text indications that they exist. The supplements/herbs sections include info on what they supposedly do but not quantities/frequencies. I feel overwhelmed & like I don't have an action plan for actually implementing anything.

It was 25 years ago this novel was published. Happy Silver Anniversary to THE LAW OF SIMILARS. The last lines? “And though some days it is very hard, I try not to live for the future. And I try not to dream of the past.” @DoubledayBooks

SheReadsAndWrites Congratulations and Happy Anniversary! What a wonderful thing to celebrate. 😊🎉 11mo

Not the tagged book. I was introduced to Dr. Andrew Weil on a recent episode of Jay Shetty‘s podcast, On Purpose. Their talk was fascinating as they covered a variety of topics. After listening to this episode, I began researching Dr. Weil‘s library of published books. I decided to start with Healthy Sleep, as I often have difficulty staying asleep. (The YouTube video of the podcast is included in my review.)

AmyG I‘d be curious to hear how you find this. I am a horrible sleeper. I can get to sleep…I just can‘t stay asleep. 2y
Megabooks We have those miniature jonquils in our yard too! 2y
NatalieR @Megabooks 😂 I love plants and had no idea that‘s what they are called! I just call them miniature daffodils. When I bought the bulbs I thought they were supposed to be typical size daffodils. Thanks for educating me! 😀 2y
NatalieR @AmyG I‘m the same way with sleep. 🛏️ You‘re welcome to click on the link to my blog. I explain in more detail there how I learned about Dr. Weil and his work. 2y
AmyG Thanks! 2y

This book effectively emphasizes the importance of all aspects of health and wellness, and provides enough explanation for most people as to why various foods and habits are very good places to start for improving our overall health and well-being. I agree with the premise that prevention is crucial to longevity (and quality of life) and that many things which can help us already exist in nature if we know where to get them. ⬇️⬇️

jitteryjane724 All of Weil's suggestions to improve health via dietary or lifestyle modification carry minimal risk to try. Combined with his prose, I am motivated to follow some of what he advises and I also feel more hopeful about the potential to increase both my physical and mental health for a longer, happier life. #health #wellness #plantbased #fabulousfebruary

I'm about to undergo a big move and have a lot of studying to do, so my goal is to finish the Weil book and make a dent in Cosmos! When I move I'll be leaving Cosmos at my parents' and it will be the thing I return to when I visit - a friendly adventure to take me away and give me an intermittent sense of wonder with time to process the rigorous thinking in between visits.

Audible brings Deepak Chopra to its members in the form of a podcast titled, Living Outside the Box: Mind Body Zone. There are 12 episodes and I like that I could listen to them in order, back to back. I love Deepak‘s work, so listening to him interact with his guests was a true pleasure. Each session had a guest unique to the topic. This series is well produced, interesting, and thought provoking.#MountTBR

Excited for this one although proceeding with caution (first copyrighted in '97 and the author has a history of controversy). While remembering principles of evidence-based practice, I'm curious if this book will give me any insights to effect empowerment and control over my own health and possibly share that with others. Always be open.
