I got slightly confused and read November's #ChristieCapers book instead of October's 😂 I love Tommy and Tuppence, and the concept here is fun. However, this one always falls a little flat for me because I'm just not familiar enough with the classic detectives Christie references throughout the book. Still, some of the mysteries are quite good, and I do love the way Christie spoofs Hercule Poirot at the end.

Unlike many of the AC mysteries I have read in the past, I had this one figured out pretty early on. It was an enjoyable read, but certainly not a favorite.

I consumed this one on audiobook so I might be mistaken, but it seems like Tuppence forgets which name she's using more often than I would expect from a former spy. Like so many TV heroines of the 20th century, she seems like the kind of woman who hides her cleverness so as not to threaten the men in her life and ends up acting sillier than makes sense. And she gets coshed on the head almost as often as 1970s TV Wonder Woman got chloroformed.

Update for @RaeLovesToRead :
My spouse thanks you for the restaurant recommendation! (He also got a milkshake.) He promises to bring me next time he travels to London (okay, so *he* didn't promise, but it's happening regardless...I am aching to travel outside of North America, and I keep being thwarted by the calendar and kids who seem to prefer road trips. I'm in the UK via my current/most recent books, but I'm guessing that's not the same).

1. Agatha Christie is, of course, not new to me, but a few of her detectives are: such as Tommy and Tuppence and Colonel Race. I'm loving discovering all of her detectives with the #ChristiesCapers group! @Librarybelle
2. Tagged. I'm behind with THE MAN IN THE BROWN SUIT, but I hope to be finishing that one today.
If you've read this far, tag ... you're it! 🤣

I‘m rereading the Tommy and Tuppence books, and I don‘t think Christie liked Tuppence very much. The other characters are rude to her. She constantly gets bashed about the head. Everyone refers to her as elderly (she‘s mid fifties max). Bah. At least this was funnier than I remember.

Although I had previously read a Tommy & Tuppence story in a detective story anthology, this was the first novel featuring the married duo I have read & what an absolute delight. Set during WWII Tommy is tasked with trying to determine who might be behind the Fifth Column in Britain. Not one to be left behind, Tuppence secretly joins him. My minor gripe about this novel is that the reveal about the major players def have a deus ex machina (CONT)
