#TenBeforeTheEnd

One book DNF'd, one unavailable in time (Gilead), one about half done (Rivers of London) and 7 finished and enjoyed. Not bad!

CarolynM Pretty good, I‘d say🙂 3w

Book 9 for my #TenBeforeTheEnd and one I‘ve had on my shelf since it was long listed for the Women‘s Prize years ago. An entertaining tale based on true events in a whaling community in 1908. The main character Mary is funny and the writing had me laughing out loud a few times. Glad I finally read it!

ChaoticMissAdventures ✅ great job!! So close to completing the challenge! 3w
sarahbarnes @ChaoticMissAdventures Thank you! One more!! 3w

Ahh I‘m so close to finishing #tenbeforetheend!

But both of the books I have left are real chunksters! 835 and 509 pages! I don‘t know if I can finish either in 5 days!

ChaoticMissAdventures Ohh those are big ones!! Maybe the 500 one? Either way you are doing amazing! 4w

The fall of Troy told by the women most impacted: Andromache, Helen, Cassandra, and Rhea.

Intense! & also part 2 of a duology!😅 I was familiar enough with Troy to know the general set up, so I didn‘t really feel lost jumping in the middle. Everyone‘s stories balanced nicely, & there was an element of hope throughout, even as you know the tragedy that is coming. Also, always love a Greek retelling that validates my Paris sucks belief.🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑

Oof. One of the more disturbing books I‘ve read. The writing is incredible and I can see how it won the Booker, but wow. It was too much for me. My book 8 for #TenBeforeTheEnd as I‘ve had this copy since it won in 2020 and have put off reading it since then.

squirrelbrain Yes, it‘s a tough, unpleasant read isn‘t it? 1mo
Suelizbeth Having read the synopsis, I don‘t think I‘ll read it, but that‘s such a great title. 1mo
ChaoticMissAdventures ✅ off the list at least? Sorry this didn't work for you, I missed this completely probably because of covid. I agree with @Suelizbeth though, great title. 1mo

sarahbarnes @squirrelbrain so tough. I felt like I was constantly bracing myself for what was going to happen next. 1mo
sarahbarnes @Suelizbeth I really can‘t recommend this one. 😬 1mo
sarahbarnes @ChaoticMissAdventures off the list indeed. It feels good to have finally read it. Now I can donate the copy. 😆 1mo
BarbaraBB I kind of liked the plot but so many little things were so disturbing and shocking. It made me nauseous at times. 1mo
sarahbarnes @BarbaraBB agreed. It was so hard to read sometimes. 1mo

#TenBeforeTheEnd progress is better than I would have thought when I created my original line up. Planning on finding more audiobook time because I‘ve got just under 10 hours to go on tagged book. 14 hours if I need to drop my speed. Audiocooking requires a slower speed for me. I don‘t think it will take me long to read Bookshops & Bonedust, so I think I‘m actually going to finish this challenge, which makes me feel great about wrapping up 2024.

Deblovestoread Doing great! 1mo
DogMomIrene @Deblovestoread Thank you! I‘m really surprised how I pulled this one together. 1mo
