Not my favorite of the series but I always enjoy my time in Botswana with Precious and her community. 3.5 🌟

Allison is surprised to learn that everyone at her ex-boyfriend‘s funeral doesn‘t know they had broken up. Keeping the secret she helps his family and best friend clean out his apartment. For a romance it also had a heavier tone due to Allison‘s health. 3.5 🌟
I really liked this book. Inspired by the legend of the 4 beauties of ancient China. I‘m not sure why this is classified as a historical fantasy. There weren‘t really any fantastical elements that I noticed except maybe the end.
Xishi learns how to be a spy and a seductress to bring down the current king who destroyed her people.
Really glad I picked this one up.
#tenbeforetheend - book 3
To say my reading has fallen off the past several days would be an accurate statement. 😳
Be that as it may, I‘m pivoting to Horse today ahead of tonight‘s book club meeting. It‘s good so far!
I bailed on Starling House. It just wasn‘t working for me. With seven weeks left in the year, I do expect to finish the rest of these plus some others. My Goodreads goal is 80 and I‘ve read 74 to date.
#TenBeforeTheEnd
Read in 1 day! Quick, tense, techie, and manages to work in some very interesting and thought provoking relationship ponderings. Really enjoyed this and so nice to read a book so quickly again! 🙌🏼
🌟🌟🌟🌟
And with that, I‘m halfway done with #tenbeforetheend #10beforetheend 😅
Starting The Unraveling next….
Welp.. I still think I can probably finish the #10beforetheend #tenbeforetheend - but I had to replace 2. I think I‘ve read all the cozies I can read this year, save maybe 1 more if I need to for #cbbc #coffeebeanbookclub
Reading the tagged. It‘s good. I can tell. But the last several cozies have dragged for me & I think it‘s because I need… let‘s say, less predictability. So. 2 cozies replaced with: The Unraveling & The City In Glass.
🤞🏼🤞🏼
This was fun and a nice distraction from … all this.
Little by little I‘m working through #serieslove2024 and #tenbeforetheend while I figure out what to read for the rest of the year.
Grief and disgust and fear over this week‘s events make it hard to write a review. But I will say that the art and beauty of fiction have been a comfort. I really enjoyed this book and Tokarczuk‘s spin on the story in The Magic Mountain. It was a relief to escape briefly into this world of mountain sanatoriums, and read her take on the power of nature, the ignorance of men, and the defiance of gender constructs.
