This is a great book to use to inspire students to work hard in school and to try different things. Many students may be able to relate to the story and feel better about school.
pickThe smart cookie is a sweet story of a cookie that discovers that everyone is smart in different ways. It‘s inspiring to young readers to find what they are good at. They may have a hard time and fail at some things but they should keep trying.

Students could use this book to find what is important about their name. This can be done through research or through things that they think are significant about them to share with everybody. This could be a great getting to know your students activity.

It is such a simple story, but told so effectively, and with such vivid art that renders the setting so alive with such vibrant colours: definitely a favourite of mine.
