A charming and innovative tale about a plucky little bird, from the award-winning author-illustrator of Fox the Tiger. Readers will delight in turning their book sideways and upside down to follow Mel on her journey from downward fall to triumphant flight in this tale of self-confidence and taking a leap of faith. An especially enjoyable and satisfying read-aloud! Sometimes, you might fall down, down, down, before you learn to fly up, up, up

I would like to think this book was really dedicated to me! 😂 it's adorable. I love all the helping hands on the way down and the look on the fish's face.

One of the many great things about this children‘s picture book is the orientation: the pages are to be viewed vertically instead of horizontally, and at one point in the story, the reader is instructed to flip it around with the other end up. Great manipulation! And a inspiring story about bravery and community spirit. Art is bright yet simple. #kidlit for #AllAges

When a kingfisher decides she‘s ready to fly, her sister asks if she‘s scared.
“Yes,” said Mel. “But I won‘t let that stop me.”
You go, Mel!
