pick#ScarathlonBuddyRead for #TeamMonsterMash #Scarathlon - I struggled reading this a section at a time to be honest, think I would have enjoyed it more by devouring in one sitting! Like some others, I guessed the twist about halfway through, and was great this morning to fly through the back 1/4 of the book, very enjoyable!
#ScarathlonBuddyRead pg.221-231: Alex and Jax are walking through the woods and Jax starts saying he doesn‘t want to go home, or to film school and he wants things to be different. Before Alex can talk sense into him, they see the man in the mask. Jax of course takes off running and they get separated. When Alex finds Jax in a maze, he‘s being killed in a downright horrible scene. At this point I need to know what‘s happening…should I just finish?
#ScarathlonBuddyRead pg.212-220 - in the light of day the group decides that they need to split up - mainly because Reagan refuses to travel out to the road. So Alex and Jax head out to find cell signal and the road and Hazel, Reagan, and the seemingly delicate Kenna stay behind to find the computer or phone those strange cables are linked to. It‘s not a great plan. I think they should get out of dodge. But this is a horror story after all.
#ScarathlonBuddyRead pg.169-211: Sorry I‘ve been MIA! Threw party for my son‘s bday & haven‘t left kitchen in 3 days😅Things are really getting good now. It‘s pretty clear someone has come to Prahova to kill off the kids 1 by 1…or is it one of them? Are they being hunted or stalked by one of their own? They find Carter‘s grewsome decapitated body, Maddie is dead and the others are starting to get suspicious of each other. It‘s great!
#ScarathlonBuddyRead pg.154-168 - Maddie is missing and the group splits up (always a good idea) to find her. Jax and Alex head outside to the terrace in the storm. On the way Jax notices that it looks as though the blood in the kitchen was staged. Someone is trying to scare them. Outside, Jax falls down the stairs and finds Maddie‘s body - so what happened? Did she fall and hit her head or did she meet with a more sinister end?
#ScarathlonBuddyRead Pg.145-153: this was a decent chapter for spookiness. The kids are left alone in the castle and in the middle of the night Alex hears someone playing music. Turns out to be the man in the mask she thought she saw earlier and she catches him on video but he disappears. And so does Maddie. Alex goes after her but finds the kitchen flooded by the storm and a bunch of blood…things are starting to get good now. 🩸 ⛈
#ScarathlonBuddyRead pg.134-144: we find out the castle was probably owned by an old mobster(Raul‘s father) and Maddie finally spills the beans that her father stole a bunch of money from his family and she wanted to use the Go Fund me money to keep him out of jail. WTF Maddie?! Alex should have said something to her - how can she honestly think she‘s entitled to their film money for her own uses? But Alex is so passive she never says anything.
#ScarathlonBuddyRead pg.123-133: So the scream was for a bat - which - if you think about where they are - is pretty spooky. Kenna is acting strange, Maddie is too, and Alex reflects on how Jax has all the power in their group and possibly their relationship. Reagan claims he is looking into the lost money but later we find out that he never messaged Go Fund Me. So many questions…although I have my theories on how things are going to go.
#ScarathlonBuddyRead Pg112-122: the author basically spends some time setting the creepy scene in the castle. Lots of statues of Vlad and dark artwork and swords hanging on walls, and hanging chandeliers and electricity that may not last through the upcoming storm. Jax and Alex are starting to light their own fire when they are interrupted by a scream. Finally, something is happening.
#ScarathlonBuddyRead pg 101-111: the kids arrive at the castle and are surprised by the state it‘s in. Crumbling around them in some spots and modern in others - interesting how Bloom was strategic with the photos she showed them so that she could get them there. A storm is brewing and the creepy caretaker leaves them on their own. Things should start getting spooky now.
