James Bent, an amusing English archeologist, gives those of us attempting to read something from every country in the world, a book to learn about this rocky stronghold of democracy. Although written when historical writing was largely a long list of names and dates, nevertheless there are moments when it is quite readable with stories of evil popes, plotting usurpers of power and a benign Napoleon.

#WeeklyForecast. Hmm. In all honesty, these feel like a bit of an effort!

I‘m pootling through the Penman & enjoy reading it that way. Should be done by Christmas!

Great Circle - I just switched to audio, which should work better for me. Currently it‘s an enjoy-it-while-I-read-it-but-forget-to-pick-it-up book

rockpools tough. Told from the pov of a girl/young woman, possibly with learning disabilities, living through the Syrian conflict.

Sister Outsider may be the one I‘m most excited about. My library ebook was recalled & has just now been returned to me.

And Lean Startup because I‘m trying to get some work reading done, as British Library have finally decided we need Business Advisor training. It‘s interesting but on the long-winded side 😐 (edited) 3y

rockpools @Currey Aaaah, no! I‘ll let you know. There are a couple of microstates books that people used for Reading Europe last year - but none of them come with glowing reviews. Not even a nice geography text book -or war stories! This may be the toughest yet. Will keep looking 🧐- tag me if you find anything? 4y
