⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Really all you need to say is a reluctant Duke & a strong-willed Regency era woman and I am already a fan.
Add in some excellent side characters, beautiful writing, and it‘s a contender for favorite romance of the year 😻

Adam, has to wade through questions of fraud, blackmail, forgery,& murder.

I am so enjoying this audiobook, a first in a series of mystery novels inspired by Jane Austen. Each chapter begins with a quote from Pride and Prejudice which suggests just what unfolds. #serieslove2025 #jumpstart2025 #Read2025

kspenmoll @robinb I am excited to know there are more books ahead for me!!! 2mo
robinb @kspenmoll My only issue is that there are two sets of the mysteries. The older set (5 of them) are listed as Rosalind Thorne mysteries. The newer ones (3) are listed as A Useful Woman mysteries. And unfortunately between the two of them they are not exactly in chronological order. There‘s not a big time difference but it is noticeable. Not sure why that happened? 🔻 (edited) 2mo
robinb Relationship progression, location differences, etc. But you can infer things between the two sets. Maybe she stopped after the Rosalind Thorne‘s and when she started again with the Useful Woman she wanted to toggle back and forth between the two to call attention to both sets?? 🤷🏻‍♀️ 2mo

This book was a delight! The main character is a strong, resourceful, good-hearted woman with a witty sense of humor. Although the novel is lighthearted, there are several difficult situations and moral dilemmas which are dealt with realistically. The characters all seemed real. This is not just a “fluffy” romance. It has substance. 5⭐️

TheAromaofBooks Yay!! I genuinely love this book so much. The snark between the main characters is just fantastic. 2mo
julieclair @TheAromaofBooks I loved it too! It will be in the mail to you by the end of next week, once I get home from vacation. Just in time for you to pack it and move it, perhaps? 2mo

The Lily Adler mysteries, narrated by Henrietta Meire.
I've listened to The Body in the Garden, Silence in the Library, and Death at the Manor, all while cleaning and wrapping gifts etc, I very much love this series, although the narrator is ... fine. Not great, but I don't hate the narration.
This series has excellent rep, with characters you don't typically find in historicals.

The blurb on the back says “intricately plotted” and it truly is, I was suspicious of EVERYONE at one point of another! I do love a lady sleuth ❤️

I own more than 100 books I haven‘t read ( I should count them 😬) so of course I get some from the library to read because it‘s fall now and I need mildly creepy books now ( and of course I have some in my stacks but I‘ve been influenced with this one)

IndoorDame Sounds like the perfect fall vibes book 5mo

Lord Peter wants guardianship of his younger half-siblings, but the judge hearing his case dislikes him. Lady Selina, a friend who is excellent at fixing things, organizing, and general problem solving, suggests that Peter (who is American and inherited his title) marry well into English society, to make himself more agreeable to the judge. I laughed a lot and recommend this friends-to-lovers romance!
