November‘s #LiteraryCrew #BuddyRead is a first: a nonfiction! This is an account of the women who left Britain in search of husbands and adventure in India in the late 19th century.

Read at your own pace. I will post periodic checkins throughout the month. Discussion questions will be posted November 30th. Please let me know if you wish to be added or removed from the tag list!

AnishaInkspill I have too many other reads to be able to join you, but tis looks really interesting, thanks for the pointer 🙂 3w

And here‘s my little Melbourne book haul. Second hand books at the top and two interesting history finds from Readings at the bottom. Should just be able to squeeze these in the suitcase!

LeahBergen Lovely! I‘ve stockpiled a couple of Mary Wesley novels and fully intend to get to them soon. 😆 2y
Ruthiella @LeahBergen I‘ve read that Mary Wesley is in part who Gibbons was spoofing in 2y
Centique @Ruthiella I think maybe that was Mary Webb? The Mary Wesley books I‘ve read so far are a little dark and unsettling. So strange that their covers look so sweet! 🤪 2y

Ruthiella @Centique You are right! Mary Webb! My bad. 🙊 2y
Jeg I‘m a Mary Wesley fan. Came to her late but love that I‘ve found her books still in the library and in op shops. 2y
Centique @Jeg this op shop had so many! But I had to be very restrained. 2y
Jeg Just noticed the tagged book. So hard to find her books . Also I can empathise with having to restrain yourself.😊 I now have a bookshelf of TBR books. I‘ll never read them all. Every now and then I do cull them . 2y

Back to work tomorrow and thus was my last holiday read. Sam Wyndham's second outing was a very enjoyable read. Set in 1920 Sam finds himself at the beginning in same car as a Prince from an Indian state when he is assassinated. With political sensitivity about independence and the geological wealth of provinces when Sam ends up in the province he can't help but step on toes + raise eyebrows as the plot thickens. Captures time + place really well.

Ruthiella I just started the first book in this series. I like it so far. 2y

Started and finished this gem on the bus Thursday and Friday.

This book is adorable! Kunal Nayyar is adorable! He‘s more like Raj than you‘d think. He‘s a little nerdy. 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻

GingerAntics He‘s awkward with women (or at least was). He had some really weird culture shock moments where he said things that he didn‘t necessarily mean or understand in the moment, but luckily he had awesome friends that let him know and loved him anyway. He related Hindi holidays with Lord of the Rings. 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻 2y
GingerAntics He almost had to go back to India because his visa was going to expire, but then he landed his first professional acting gig, a little show I‘m sure no one even saw called The Big Bang Theory! He‘s Raj, but even more lovable and cool! This book was a fun, delightful, funny adventure. 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻 2y
GingerAntics I openly laughed multiple times on the bus while listening to this (I‘m sure most of the Fargo-Moorhead area now thinks I‘m absolutely crazy). It‘s made even better because it‘s read by Kunal himself. #KunalNayyar #YesMyAccentIsReal #Raj #TBBT #audiobook #busbook 2y

BiblioLitten I think I‘ll like this one. Even though my last memoir disappointed me. 2y
GingerAntics @BiblioLitten if you liked TBBT, you‘ll enjoy this. It‘s goofy and cheery. Even the sad parts have a heartwarming spin to them. He‘s definitely not Raj, but then he‘s kind of Raj. It‘s hard to explain. 2y
BiblioLitten I loved TBBT!! Just finished rewatching Young Sheldon😄 2y
GingerAntics @BiblioLitten Young Sheldon is so much fun. I‘m starting to get worried though. George is going to have to die soon. 2y
