Lured me in from the 1st page and quickly became a page turner. Gin heads home when the body of her sister, Lily, is found 20 years after she disappeared. Gin discovers family secrets in trying to determine what happened.

Engrossing. Kate heads to Laurel Ridge to try to understand why her brother killed himself. She feels the local police didn‘t properly look into the matter. The few answers she digs up only leads to more questions and this small town definitely holds some secrets (some obvious). But, she begins to cooperate with the Police Chief (or vice versa) to solve their questions.

Sylvia, who grew up in and owned Elm Creek Manor, and who was a dear, devoted soul, passes on.
A lot of ground is covered in this book 18 of the series: Sarah and Matt‘s twins are born, Sylvia connects with her long lost cousins, and the twins receive a final gift from Sylvia

Carnegie's Maid: A Novel | Marie Benedict

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I found this story very compelling. Andrew Carnegie was a ruthless industrialist turned philanthropist, giving away his fortune, promoting self-education by building libraries. Yet no one knows what caused the change in him. The author took from her own immigrant ancestors and added Clara Kelley to the story, an immigrant with a story of her own. She became Mrs. Carnegie‘s lady‘s maid, but did she also bring about this change to Andrew?

Book 17 goes back to the Civil War in both North and South. Sylvia‘s ancestor Gerta is an active abolitionist and helps freed slaves by sheltering them at Elm Creek Manor. Quilts became maps/symbols so runaway slaves could be directed toward safe homes.

Over the last few days I‘ve been listening to Chiaverini‘s Elm Creek Quilts series (recommended by @Deblovestoread ) with 20+ books. Great characters and relationships woven with continuing stories and quilting projects.

This one is an old ARC I recieved via NetGalley.
This one kept me questing the whole way through. I definitely recommend it. The mystery was good. I loved Kate‘s determination to stay and keep the orchard. She‘s nice but also a little wary of the new people in her life while she figures out who she can trust. I could relate to that. Then, the return to a family inheritance trope and the towns people helping them out is one I enjoy.
