I was really enjoying this for what it was (a romance book for sure) but then there was a blow up with a best friend over a guy and I just couldn‘t. Friends since elementary school and a guy came in and ruined the relationship. I won‘t spoil whether they get over it or not, but regardless of whether they made up or not, I‘m still not a fan of the fight in general. #booked2021 #mustacheonthecover #litsyatoz #r

This novel is a fictional account of the life of James Miranda Barry, a doctor who had been a girl but lived as a man in the 1800s and was not what I had hoped it would be. The author focuses on the lack of choices a woman at the time had but I never got a sense of who Barry was or what he wanted. I think I should read one of his biographies instead. #mustacheonthecover #booked2021

Though I don‘t have a physical cover, this audiobook is my #MustacheOnTheCover for #Booked2021! This look into the impact of Joseph Lister and his antiseptic protocols is surprisingly fascinating- though not recommended for the squeamish! The state of living and medicine before is as horrific as one would imagine and though there are hiccups along the way, it makes for an engaging and informative listen! #AudioColoring

A fun & fascinating audiobook. I wouldn‘t usually pick up a lit criticism book, but heard Val McDermid rave about it on a BBC podcast and couldn‘t resist. I love how Oxford prof Smith looks at how each play is so open to interpretation, how they ask more questions than give any answers, and she discusses each play in both the context of the day, and of today‘s world. I learnt so much about the ambiguities and about dramaturgy and creative choices.

Keeping Miss Percy company today after her spay surgery & some icky post-op complications. Hoping she‘s on the road to feeling much better. Also, really enjoying this choice for #booked2021 #mustacheonthecover so far!

I enjoyed many of Burt Reynolds movies and think he had the best laugh ever. This is more a collection of impressions about people he knew than a true memoir. It meanders even within a chapter. I was surprised with some of the revelations and did find it interesting. It's my #mustacheonthecover for #Booked2021 and my #doublespin for #bookspinbingo
