Lounging with my library book, under the electric blanket, watching the sad news about measles outbreaks and banned Bradford Pear trees. Work was busy and I want a nap. 😴 Looking forward to a nice dinner 🍽️ prepared by my chef husband and watching Severance 📺

Narrated by the mother, this is a story of overwhelming love for her daughter leading to an estrangement of epic proportions. We don‘t really understand what happened for the longest time, they seem to have a great relationship with lots of fun banter. Really interesting how the mother describes mother/daughter relationships in books she‘s read, actual books that are mentioned at the end in the author‘s note. Thought provoking!

I do like a small town novel and this was no exception. I liked hearing the perspectives of each other and of events through both Amy & Isabelle. It was a very slow start (almost bailed) and it wasn‘t until the halfway point that I really got invested but the second half unfolded perfectly. Loved the backdrop of characters, how we get to hear Isabelle‘s story and see her opening up and the mother/daughter relationship. #readyourkindle

sarahbarnes I‘ve loved every Strout book I‘ve read and haven‘t gotten to this one yet. I‘m listening to Anything is Possible right now. That cake looks like it involves pistachios, which I love - so delicious! 2mo

Strout‘s debut novel about a mother and a daughter, and their relationship. Amy is 16 and just starting life. Isabelle is a single parent, working as a secretary at the factory, trying to get by. It‘s the warmest summer in memory and things are about to change.

Super heavy on the introspection. But I think I gained something from reading it.

#FoodandLit #Canada Today is Butternut Squash. A hybrid from a bottleneck squash and pumpkin by an American. Smooth like butter and has a nutty flavor. I made Butternut Squash soup today. All you need is a 4 lb Butternut (from my garden) a large onion, 3 garlicky cloves.Bouillon that has ginger in it. Cook until Squash is soft.Let cool a bit and put it in a blender to make it smooth. Add cream and fresh parsley to serve. @Catsandbooks @Texreader

This was a cute, fun read. Enjoyed the blend of mystery and romance. The romance didn‘t overpower the mystery and the diverse cast of characters were all fully three dimensional and interesting. Although it was a mystery and there were some serious elements in it, it was also cheerful and uplifting. Really liked it.

Anyone else get the new #kindle colorsoft? I kind of love it 🥰 . Really liking all these books too

BarbaraBB Great selection of books you‘re showing 🥰 5mo
tpixie I‘ve been curious about getting one because of the color on the cover page, but I don‘t read graphic novels for the color to be important inside the book How is it on your eyes compared to a paperwhite? Does it have a dark mode for night reading? Is it any more responsive than a Kindle paperwhite? Thx! 5mo
Flaneurette @tpixie I think this is too small for graphic novels tbh but it is fun to see the covers. My oasis is dying so i bought this to replace- the reading of b&w text is really good and it is blazing fast compared to my other kindles- pw11 included. There is a dark mode but only in books not home screen or library, like Kobos dark mode. hope this helps! 5mo
