I've enjoyed audio walking with this book over the last couple of weeks. There are 3 very distinct parts to the story - a blackly funny portrait of grief, a bit of charmingly relatable nostalgia for 90s Uni life (although my Uni life was 10 years earlier) and a very British spoof spy caper. It's all fairly preposterous, but I was happy to suspend disbelief. Olivia Coleman's excellent narration was a plus. #Booked2020 #MakesYouLOL (frequently)

For a book that is so heartbreaking, I laughed an awful lot. This isn't my typical kind of book but you can't help but adore Zelda for her love of Vikings, her determination to make her life legendary, and her use of the word "powerful".

A quick, fun read. 1987: 14-year-old Billy and his two friends are determined to get their hands on the new Playboy with Vanna White. Ridiculous caper, computer geeking, some petty crime, teenage romance, and a multitude of 80s pop culture references ensue.

In some ways predictable, but still managed to surprise me near the end. The teenage kids are a bunch of jerks, but that sort of makes it more realistic.

For example, this section where the 14-year-old boys in 1987 try to decide which cassette tapes to shoplift from the mall in order to resell them.
