This is a wonderful memoir of a black woman who had a tragic life of poverty and abuse who worked so hard to escape it. She lifted herself up and says “success is absolutely wonderful, but it‘s not who you are” and “I was driven to save everyone.” She gave everything she had to her craft and to her family.
