Happy Thanksgiving, litsy peeps
Starting some historical fiction, which I haven't read in quite some time.
An annual adventure with a high school friend ~ meeting between homes in Michigan & Indiana. Yesterday was opening day for the 100+ year old carousel. The middle horse in the top photo was carved by the original creator‘s son and found in Michigan. My 6 hour round trip drive 😳 was made bearable by listening to the tagged book.
What an interesting life - first being married to the famous (or infamous) Charles Lindbergh; second finally finding her own ‘voice‘. And of course the kidnapping of their first born son. HF

Fantastic HF exploring the life of Anne Morrow Lindbergh. She was a fascinating person in her own right, although she was usually overshadowed by her husband.
This was my first Melanie Benjamin novel. I found her writing to be quite excellent. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I absolutely loved this audiobook! I only knew the gist of the Lindbergh baby kidnapping before reading this and, while I know this is fiction, I do think it really helped me better understand the intricacies of what happened, the suspects, the family, the role the media played in the whole thing, and much more. Also, I really dislike Lindbergh himself after this…such a cold asshole! I now want to read more about the family which is the mark of ⬇️
This book read more like historical non-fiction, which wasn‘t necessarily a bad thing in this case. The story covered a topic that I knew little about. I was intrigued to learn about the Lindbergh kidnapping, such a tragic story. While the protagonist seemed brave, I didn‘t feel that she was as strong as some I‘ve read about in past novels. I look forward to our book clubs upcoming discussion with this author.
