A summary of the French books I read once a week out loud to help with my French pronunciation. First 2 are TBR reads, the rest other reads which equals 100 points total.

I love this little trilogy on kindle unlimited! The first half of the book is the story completely in French with questions to quiz you at the end of each chapter. The second half is the English translation. I love that I can get completely immersed in a book written totally in French and understand more than 95% of it. It‘s very helpful to those learning French and I highly recommend it. Looking forward to book 3! 🇫🇷

JanuarieTimewalker13 C‘est Magnifique!! I had 4 semesters of college French about 13 years ago...I should get these books! 3y
JenlovesJT47 @JanuarieTimewalker13 you should! They‘re really helpful and the author is pretty funny. Lots of little bits of humor sprinkled throughout. I like how at the end there‘s a list of common phrases in French and he sneaks in how to say “you have a cute butt” at the end 😆 3y
JanuarieTimewalker13 Haha!! That‘s great!!! Thanks!! 3y

This isn‘t in the system. I grabbed this on amazon a couple of months ago and have slowly been going through all of these questions that test your French knowledge. I would not recommend this until you are at least at an intermediate level, but it is very helpful and encouraging - I‘m on the right track — not an expert but not a novice either. It‘s broken up into sections and is very doable. Recommended! 4⭐️

I started reading the 1st HP book in French last year but got stalled around chapter 5. #PotterADay gave me a good excuse with a doable goal, so each day I would read a chapter in English, then read it in French on my kindle while also listening to the French audiobook. I feel like I learned a lot and plan on doing this again with the rest of the series. Thanks again @Linsy !! 🤗

wanderinglynn What a great idea! 👍🏻 4y
JenlovesJT47 @wanderinglynn thanks!! 🤗 4y
Clare-Dragonfly I don‘t speak French at all, but does this title translate to “the sorcerers‘ school” rather than “stone”? 🤔 4y

JenlovesJT47 @Clare-Dragonfly yes! Not sure why 🤔 4y
Clare-Dragonfly It‘s certainly not an inaccurate title! 🤷🏻‍♀️ 4y
Linsy That's amazing!!! I might steal that idea on my next read through. I've been meaning to use Harry Potter to keep up with my French from college. 4y
Linsy @Clare-Dragonfly What's crazy is that the US publishers suggested Harry Potter and the School of Magic and Rowling nixed it. I wonder if she had less say in different languages. 4y

I sped through the last 2/3 of this today because I just wanted to be done with it. There are tons of typos and no accent marks anywhere to be found. It‘s also not a word puzzle per se. It has a column of French words that you are supposed to match with a column of English words. Not super hard but some of their choices left me scratching my head and could be pretty confusing for a lot of people. 3⭐️

This is a fun little dictionary for getting kids started in French. The section in the back about Frenchman grammar is useful without being overwhelming for new students of any age. These might not be the most useful 500 words in French, but kids and educators will probably get the most mileage out of them.

None of these are in the system but I found them on kindle unlimited. I‘d give them all picks except Les Chats Adorent Noël — although I gave it an extra star because the illustrations are adorable!

I found this in a used bookstore awhile back. I spent the morning going through this while saying all the words out loud to help with my pronunciations. I knew most of these words already but this is a great way to give you a visual memory of a word. 4.5⭐️

It took 3 months but I finally finished this! There are 40 lessons with 3-10 exercises at the end of each chapter, plus 8 sections of review exercises. I would highly recommend this to anyone learning French. 5⭐️

Chab256 I left highschool being able to read, write, and speak French fairly fluently. And 27 years later...I remember very little unfortunately. I've always wanted to learn Italian. 4y

JenlovesJT47 @Chab256 I would highly recommend starting with Duolingo! You can brush up on your French there if you want, or start Italian. Duo is a great supplement imo. 🤓 4y
AlaMich I really admire your tenacity! Will you continue? (edited) 4y
JenlovesJT47 @AlaMich thank you!! 🤗 And yes, definitely going to continue. I‘m also doing baby steps in German and Japanese but I love French, it‘s such a beautiful language! 4y
