THE SECRET GARDEN was initially published as a serial story in 1910 and was brought out in novel form in 1911. The plot centers round Mary Lennox, a young English girl who returns to England from India, having suffered the immense trauma by losing both her parents in a cholera epidemic.
slategreyskies My great great aunt gave me a beautiful hardbound illustrated version of this book when I was a little girl. It‘s one of the few books, possibly the only one, that I still have from back then. I love that it has her handwriting inside the cover. It always makes me remember her and smile. 2y
