Well🤷🏻♀️ of course the winner of the #internationalbookerprize is one of my least favorites again but I have to admit the premise of this one is fantastic. A man creates spaces completely similar to how they were in a certain year for people with dementia. I loved being in those rooms and recognized much but the book got a bit out of control in my opinion.
Al-Awafi is a small village in #Oman. Time seems to have passed without any changes. People live their lives as they have for centuries in this desolate part of the country. But this is the 20th century and things ARE changing. This book tells how the community deals with current times. The story is a combination of folklore and magic realism, of fiction and journalism.

Also - happy to see another Dutch writer! #internationalbookerprize

I am still reading Woman no. 17. Halfway through and not sure what to think of it. Based on @Kalalalatja ‘s review I now finally want to read Stella Fortuna. But there‘s also our #NYRBBookclub read (which may be a bit too heavy for me these days) and the only Dutch book nominated for the #InternationalBookerPrize.
