I took the final steps today to totally disconnect from Amazon. #kobo on the way. #HitThemWhereItHurts #resist

willaful Bravo! 5d
catiewithac Which kind of Kobo did you get? I‘m looking to replace my kindle paper white. 💪🏼 5d
Lcsmcat @catiewithac I ordered the Libra Color. It‘s not here yet, but I‘ll let you know once I have it. ❤️ 5d
TheBookHippie @Lcsmcat yes please advise!!! 5d
Amiable @Lcsmcat @AmyG As a former newspaper journalist, I‘ve been holding on in solidarity with the WaPo reporters who are trying to do their jobs. Bezos doesn‘t make his fortune with WaPo. It‘s just a tax write-off for him. When subscriptions plummet, it‘s the newsroom staff that suffers with layoffs. I‘ve been there, done that. But Bezos‘ bullsh!t today with the op-ed directive crossed the line for me. I can‘t do it anymore. 🤬 4d
Deblovestoread Just finished downloading all my books today. Bozos will not longer get any $$ from me. Just a drop in the bucket but going to put my money where my mouth is. Look forward to your post about your new kobo. 4d
Lcsmcat @Amiable I didn‘t drop my subscription lightly, but editorial decisions made it clear where his loyalty lay, and it wasn‘t with the truth. Very sad, and I hope some new sources for news will emerge and employee those dedicated journalists. 4d
Amiable @Deblovestoread That‘s how I feel. Some of my coworkers have rolled their eyes for several years at my insistence on boycotting certain companies—basically with the attitude of “what difference does your single purchase make?” I say it‘s one of the things I‘m able to control, and it makes me feel better to make those choices. 4d
Lcsmcat @Amiable @Deblovestoread Exactly. My purchases might be a drop in the bucket, but if we all get together, they‘re not. And I‘m doing something. Fascists and other dictators thrive when good people feel helpless. 4d

DogMomIrene @Lcsmcat @catiewithac I‘ve had my Kobo Libra Color for months now. Maybe a year. Love it. I bought the stylus, but I never use it. I haven‘t used the notating/journaling features. If I were a student, I could see using them. But highlighting works for me. I do miss the Kindle option to capture highlights in shareable graphics. That‘s convenient. But I‘ll type future quotes to share from Kobo. 4d
Lcsmcat @DogMomIrene Good to know! I‘ve read on the Kobo app but this will be my first device. 4d
rwmg @DogMomIrene Forgive me if I'm stating the obvious, but to share highlights from my Kobo, I open the Kobo app on my tablet then screenshot the page and crop it down as necessary. Then send/post it like any other image. (edited) 4d
DogMomIrene @rwmg I see how that would work. It‘s not really as aesthetically pleasing as I would prefer. That‘s what I think the Kindle app does better. When I select a highlight, I‘m given a few choices for how I‘d like it to look. “Kindle Quotes” with different colored backgrounds, fonts, and it always includes title & author. I‘m a picky pants about aesthetics, especially readability, so this is the one feature I miss when I‘m using my Kobo. 4d
