August part one favorite: Mexican Gothic. I don't know what I was expecting, but it wasn't that!

I was not expecting how much I would love this book. It's more in the middle grade side and I don't tend to enjoy those but this book charmed the pants off of me and I plan to continue on with the series!

Realized I never posted this from my book club at the beginning of the month (was it this month? Time is such a blur) so I‘ll post it now.
I really enjoyed this one and I look forward to continuing this series. I‘m still really sad all our book clubs have basically been cancelled for the time being.

Fabulous fantasy novel (it's so short! though I don't think it's a novella). I love the way McGuire builds this world, a boarding school for teenagers who have returned to this world from somewhere in the fantasy realm and long to back. Somehow, in this short book, she manages to have a mystery, to demonstrate great diversity of gender identity and orientation, AND build a gorgeous series of fantasy worlds.
