It‘s #DropEverythingAndRead Day! I listened to Ramona the Pest, the second book in Beverly Cleary‘s Ramona series. I laughed out loud! Stockard Channing was the narrator and she was excellent. I loved Miss Binny, too. Her drawl was so endearing and I‘m sure she never forgot Ramona. I have to go up in the attic now to get the rest of the books. Hope you have a great DEAR Day! #100YEARS100BOOKS #BookSpinBingo #9 #BFC21 #SERIES2021 #AwesomeApril

I didn't add much to yesterday's total. I'll finish the last book of the Star Trek: Prometheus trilogy tonight and I'm about 50% finished with Arguing with Zombies.

Finished book 5 of my goal of 6 last eve
(It's not on Litsy yet, or on Amazon)
Thanks to #Edelweiss for this ARC of
THE BOOK OF OLD LADIES by Ruth Saxton
The author takes the reader through 20th century fiction female authors who write about women of a "certain age" (OLD!) And how they are depicted . Do they still have desires, goals, fulfilling lives. So much to ponder on how we view older women.⤵️

Crazeedi A wide variety of books by many female authors are compared and contrasted. I recommend. An eye opening realization for me on how old women are shown 5y
Andrew65 You are doing great, and good to see you‘ve been able to do some reading again. 🥰👏👏👏🙌 5y
Crazeedi @Andrew65 thanks🥰, I lost a day and a half, but I'm hoping to get one more done today! 5y
Andrew65 5 books finished is still great 😍 5y

catebutler Well done! 👏🏼 5y
Buechersuechtling Well done. 🙌🏼 I‘m a bit jealous because I don‘t really find much time to read in May so far. 5y

RamsFan1963 @Buechersuechtling It would have been much shorter, but I was off three days of this readathon. Otherwise, it would have been more like 15-16 hours 5y
Buechersuechtling @RamsFan1963 Which at the moment would still be a time out of reach for me. I made to a maximum of 2 hours of reading for pleasure during that readathon period. So picking up my book again yesterday while catching sun was a bit like seeing presents 🎁 on Christmas 🎄 Eve or on your birthday 🎂: Pure joy‼️🥰 5y
Andrew65 You met your target with a day to spare. Well done, a great achievement. 🙌🙌🙌🙌🍾🥂🥳🥳🥳😁 5y
RamsFan1963 @Andrew65 I totally misread it, I thought it ended at midnight last night, but it's midnight SUNDAY!! Duhhhhh!! 5y
TheBookDream How do you like Prometheus? I couldnt get into them 4y
RamsFan1963 @TheBookDream I enjoyed the trilogy for the most part, it dragged a little in places, but over all I give it a thumbs up. 4y

Happily, this book doesn't suffer from "middle book syndrome", where nothing really happens except a setup for the finale. There are more terrorist attacks, which lead back to the least expected return of a classic TOS villain. I didn't see it coming, but once revealed it made so much sense, I don't see how I missed it. 4 ????

Mrs_B I absolutely love Star Trek TNG, but have never tried any of the books. I think you‘ve inspired me to give it a go. 🖖 5y
Andrew65 @Mrs_B I‘ve read some good Star Trek TNG books, especially those with Q in. 5y
Andrew65 Well done 👏👏👏 5y

Mrs_B @Andrew65 Q is the best! John de Lancie is amazing as Q. Do you have any suggestions on which book is good to start with? 5y
Andrew65 @Mrs_B Although to be fair think I have enjoyed all that I have read. 5y
RamsFan1963 @Andrew65 @Mrs.B I've read lots of Star Trek novels, TOS, TNG, DS9, Voyager and Enterprise, and the quality varies. Some authors research and know the lore so their books come out sounding right, but others you finish wondering if the author ever even saw the TV series. If you like TNG, I recommend the Star Trek-Destiny trilogy (Gods of Night, Mere Mortals, Lost Souls) by David Mack. It includes a mind blowing origin of the Borg. 5y
Andrew65 @RamsFan1963 Thanks for these recommendations. 😊 Think I must have been lucky with the handful I‘ve read so far. (edited) 5y
Mrs_B @Andrew65 @RamsFan1963 Thank you both so much for taking the time to post these. The q continuum ones sound awesome. And I am SO EXCITED about Borg origins. Although they do terrify me... 5y

Bookish and the Beast | Ashley Poston

The pop culture references blur the actual story. There is little to no back story. Who needs a back story when we've got a hot sexy villain, right? And the female MC has no sense of self-preservation. Also, the dog may destroy the rose bushes and whatnot, but a book (don't get me wrong, I treasure books) - a book - is the lever to get this Beauty and the Beast retelling rolling?
