Not a lot of reading today because I was seeing a matinee of The Lion King. It‘s been years since I‘d seen the show and the production was just as impressive as the first time. I love the way it uses puppetry to tell the story.

pickI finished my #doublespin today! This was a cute romcom about a disgraced pop star, a former boy band member, a Broadway show, best friendship, a cat named Fish, and living the life you want instead of the life expected of you. I'll definitely have to read Funny You Should Ask now.

so-soReading this right after Britney‘s memoir was tough because the parallels are right there but in this case, the “Britney” — Katie Rose/Kathleen — is so immature throughout even as a grown woman, it‘s extremely hard to feel sorry for her despite her incredible wins. I found myself empathizing with BFF Harriet the most, but rolled my eyes when even her valid criticism is immediately glossed over.
pickA little Britney & Justin (except screw this Justin), a little Broadway, a little second chance romance. All good things! I admit I didn't love that basically all the drama was caused by the characters refusing to talk to each other, but that's a personal preference. Compulsively readable! #contemporaryromance
pickI liked it!! The chemistry between Cal & Kathleen was so well written and fun. And their bickering didn‘t feel excessive and toxic, but more like old friends with baggage. And watching them grow through this was great
I didn‘t enjoy Harriet as much as I wanted to. We only got to see her being a jealous, unsupportive friend and then suddenly supporting the relationship. So it‘s hard to see her as the loving bff that the book wanted to paint her as
Went to the Kerrville chalk festival today and saw Audrey II. Check out some of the other art. Some truly talented folks. Weather was so nice 🍁 Kiddo was so excited about his butterfly 🦋 #Scarathlon #BatBrigade
