I‘ve really been enjoying trying more recipes from this cookbook since I got a print copy. Yesterday, I made brioche rolls modified by adding some instant yeast to speed up the process, but I‘ll be making them again as pure sourdough. Then, we used them as sandwich rolls for the smoked BBQ beef made by my brother-in-law & nephew for supper. Absolutely delicious!

Tamra So gorgeous! 😍 👏🏾 You have reminded me to get out my starter. 5d
Daisey @Tamra I‘ve never tried a brioche recipe before, but these turned out beautifully. Hope all is going well with your starter! 5d

Tamra @Daisey I‘ve neglected it after my first couple of loaf attempts, but I‘m going to feed it and make more. 😉 I might cheat and add some yeast to get a bigger rise. 5d

I read a lot of books I really enjoyed in May, but none that grabbed me and shook me to say “I am the favorite.” So I reviewed my list and was surprised when my heart chose Breaking Bread! I don‘t think I‘ve ever had a cookbook in my top reads before. This is a big year for nonfiction, I guess, with Mystical Stitches taking the top spot for March. Both were library borrows, but I bought Mystical Stitches and plan to do the same with this!

This isn‘t just a cookbook—it‘s a memoir told in recipes and in gorgeous, mouth-watering prose. Also, the recipes are great. Pictured is Oatmeal Bread. We haven‘t sliced into it yet, but it smells amazing! I also made the bagels and they don‘t look great but they are tasty. There are so many recipes in this book that I want to try, in fact, that I‘m planning to buy my own copy after borrowing this from the library.

Tamra That looks lovely! 😍 2w

This is definitely my favorite sourdough cookbook. I mixed up the dough for these overnight baguette twists yesterday afternoon, shaped them early this morning, and baked them before leaving for church. The recipe is simple and delicious!

Deblovestoread I‘ve just started my sourdough journey. Baked my 3rd loaf yesterday. There is so much conflicting info out there so maybe this book would help that. And your loaves look fantastic! 2mo

Daisey @Deblovestoread There is a lot of conflicting info, but this book is less complicated than many. I‘ve had my sourdough for 30 years now and am still learning different methods. The main thing I like to remember is that it has been used for hundreds of years. It doesn‘t always work perfectly, but it also doesn‘t have to be that complicated. 2mo

Tamra @Daisey it‘s now warm enough in the house consistently to make a starter. I am going to order this book. 😁 2mo

Got this book at Bob‘s Red Mill in Milwaukie, OR, just south of Portland, OR on vacation. So cool to see the headquarters in person! They have all kinds of Bob‘s Red Mill products at my grocery store in the natural food section. There are 31 recipes I want to try making in here. No pictures of recipes, though. I want to see how it‘s supposed to turn out!

Yesterday I made the jalapeño cheddar sourdough from the tagged cookbook. I shaped one larger loaf and a few of these small rolls as well. The combination made for an amazing sausage and egg breakfast sandwich along with the chipotle mayo I made as well.

Whole wheat cheddar scallion rolls are fresh out of the oven. I planted the root ends of the onions outside to grow from scraps.
