The Girl with the Silver Eyes | Willo Davis Roberts
post image

I've fallen behind for the #ReadJanuary photo challenge, so I'm doubling up: The Girl on the Train is my pick for both #BookEveryoneButYouHasRead and #GirlintheTitle. Another one that I feel like I'm the only person who hasn't read is Harry Potter & the Cursed Child. More "Girl" titles: childhood fave, The Girl with the Silver Eyes by Willo Davis Roberts, and Stieg Larsson's Millennium trilogy.

LazyOwl I haven't read HP and the cursed child, I'm not sure I would like the screenplay format 8y
TK-421 @LazyOwl I'm a bit leery about the format too but hoping I will be able to get past it 8y

#bookeveryonebutyouhasread is Harry Potter but I'm working to remedy that with #hpchapteraday! I'm really enjoying the audio and I'm pretty hooked. #readjanuary @RealLifeReading

kyraleseberg I started the HP series for the first time ever last year with my 3 year old. I'm obsessed! We read a chapter each night before she goes to bed and I really have to stop myself from reading ahead without her 😂 8y

To Kill a Mockingbird is on my challenge lists for #LitsyReadingChallenge and #LitsyAtoZ this year, so it will be rectified before 2018!

mhillis That's a nice cover! 8y

@RealLifeReading

I've never read "Sophie's World", especially not back when everyone was going crazy about it. I don't even know why.

Tell me, what did I miss?

thegirlwiththelibrarybag I've never heard of it... 8y
Pinkmeghan I tried to read it numerous times, but at the end of the day I just don't care for philosophy so an entire book teaching it left me uninterested. 😬 8y
julesG @thegirlwiththelibrarybag Maybe that's a European thing. It was very popular here, in Germany, in the mid-90s. 8y

julesG @Pinkmeghan I should read it now, my daughter is asking me all kinds of philosophical questions. 8y
LauraBeth @thegirlwiththelibrarybag @julesG this was also huge in the US in the mid-90s. I read it and thought it was just okay. It's a good introduction to some philosophy basics if I remember correctly - the mid-90s seems so long ago 😂 8y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag Ahh, mid 90s, I was probably too young (and philosophy isn't really something I gravitate toward) @LauraBeth (edited) 8y
julesG @thegirlwiththelibrarybag That might be it. (And no, I will not feel old all of a sudden ;-) ) 8y
julesG @LauraBeth Oh, I didn't know that. For a second I thought it was a European thing, only. 8y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @julesG, 😬 sorry! (edited) 8y
LauraBeth @julesG, @thegirlwiththelibrarybag my favorite is when something that was huge in another decade comes back around as popular and I think, "I read that 25 years ago - should I re-read it?" ?? 8y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @LauraBeth, I'd just be feeling smug that I'd read it the first time round 😏 I can remember Mum making me read The Celestine Prophecy when The Da Vinci Code came out... 8y
Sarah83 You should read it. The beginning is a bit bumpy but it turns out, it was one of the best books I read in the 90ies. 😉 8y
julesG @Sarah83 Thanks. I'm thinking about it. Will get the German edition from the library, so my kids can read along. 8y
Sarah83 It is important that you make the introduction. Then it read itself alone. 😉 Or maybe I can come forward with a proposal? His writing style is bit 'special'. I read another book at last it's shorter and about books maybe it helps you to get into him. Here is the other book: 8y
julesG @Sarah83 I know what you mean, the style is definitely Svandinavian. That's probably what's still holding me back. 8y
