Pickpick

I told a friend at work I wanted a horror manga read so he suggested this series. Apparently the author died suddenly last year but he left behind a serious body of work. The artwork is stunning and the story delivers on horror and paranormal fronts.

Bookzombie I have only read this one, but Junji Ito is really good. 2y
KristiAhlers @Bookzombie yes he was! I was sad to hear he passed last year! I'm going to slowly make my way through this series. 2y

Berserk was one of those rare special pieces of art and story that impacted people around the world in significant ways. It's dark, gothic, fantasy escape was a staple of my reading for as long as I can remember.⁣

I was so sad to hear of this mangakas passing, and while the world is a better place having his story in it, it is surely a duller world now having him gone.⁣

Rest in peace, Kentaro Miura.

Twainy I didn‘t know this! I just got the deluxe hardcover #1 for Christmas. It‘s still in plastic. RIP 🥲 3y

Now my mind is spinning and wondering how Berserk will be continued and for the creator's new series will be released. Kentaro Miura, thank you for being an influencer in the manga and helping in opening new doors in the manga world, you will be missed 😔

Sweetkokoro Personally for me, I think Berserk should be left how it is. I understand there was a lot untold but unless he had actual plans in place should this occur it‘s best to leave it as is. I would hate for someone to mess with everything I worked my life into if it was me. This is a huge loss to the world of Manga but he left an amazing legacy and story that will last forever regardless if it‘s ever “finished” 3y
phantomx @Sweetkokoro I agree, Berserk story has so many pieces that have been left untouched and its so unique, I can't imagine who would be able to complete the story in Miura's style. 3y

Pickpick

So much has happened in volume 2. Guts encounters Griffith and the Band of the Hawks. Losing to Griffith, Guts becomes a Hawk. Through many bloody battles, and rising as Captain, Guts coldness crumbles a bit. However, as Griffith is noticed more by the nobles of Midland, Guts is starting to be pulled into Griffith's vision of being a ruler. This volume focuses a lot in the danger of blind loyalties, fear, and true understanding on a human level

Casca is judged so harshly, and she is at times seen as a cruel character, but she lives in a world where women are prohibited and only seen in a certain way by men. By telling Guts her story of how she arrived to the Band of the Hawks, she and Guts develop a deeper understanding and start to develop care towards each other #manga
