Bentley Little is one of my favorite authors. This one features two high school students, Penelope and Dion, as they learn they are destined to bring about the return of an Ancient Greek god. There is a lot of violence and sex in this book, so much so that I became kind of numb to it. The first half of the book was great with a good plot. The second half was where most of the action was. I recommend this book to fans of the author.

RamsFan1963 My problem with Little, and I admit I've only read about 4 of his books, is that he's great with the build up, ramping up the fear and dread, but then the monster he's been hyping for 300 pages is easily defeated. 2w

8/14/2023: This is my first workplace horror and I have thoughts. Review coming soon, but I'd like to say this now: This book felt like I worked there and those consultants were on something else. I was ready to quit and wondered why most characters didn't (lol).

8/19/2023: It‘s been a couple days since I‘ve finished this book and I‘m still not sure what to say about it. I guess what I said before is all.

ShyBookOwl I went through a phase in university where I kept reading Bentley Little books one after another trying to decide how I felt about them 😅 They were so creepy and addictive but I kept wondering if something felt problematic in his portrayals. I never did pinpoint it and now it's been so long I can't even recall what concerned me. I think I might give him another go this October! 2y

95/150 This is only the third book I've read by Little, but I have the same problem with it as the previous two books. Little is great at building tension, building the dread that something horrible is coming, filling the pages with creepy and grotesque images. However, his endings are always so easy, the monstrous evil that's going to destroy everyone is defeated so simply, almost effortlessly, that you have to wonder how big a threat ⬇️⬇️⬇️

RamsFan1963 the monster really was in the first place. This book did have a definite Needful Things vibe going for it, which was interesting until the climatic battle and ultimate letdown. 3 ⭐⭐⭐ 2y
