Tiny #AudiobookRant
Is it too much to ask that a narrator checks the pronunciation of a word they might not have spoken aloud before? Or that the editor picks up on the error?
The noun "scythe" and verb "scythed" come up several times right at the beginning of the book and are pronounced "skythed" ?? makes me shudder. The C is silent.
The plot and writing style aren't great either. I might bail.

AlaMich Two of my pet peeves: weird word repetitions and a narrator mispronouncing words!! 1y
julesG @AlaMich Glad I'm not alone. 1y

Hooked_on_books This deeply irritates me as well. Especially in the internet age, when one can google a word and get a pronunciation easily. I actually even heard a reader pronounce Uber as “You-Ber” recently. Really?!? 1y
GingerAntics @Hooked_on_books seriously?! 1y
ravenlee Ugh, that‘s awful. 1y
Hooked_on_books @GingerAntics Yes! I was stunned. It was later said correctly, so they obviously fixed a few occurrences but not that one. 1y
GingerAntics @Hooked_on_books 🤦🏼♀️ that‘s worse! 1y
Susanita Ugh. That just takes me right out of the book! Sometimes I wonder about the editing process for audiobooks. 1y
