jfalkens @Ddzmini I'm so sorry for your loss xXxX we had a painted turtle(Lily) and Russian Tortoise(Genbu) that passed away a few years ago. Wally, the Russian Tortoise we have now, we just got Aug 25th. 6y

Ddzmini @jfalkens thank you I don‘t know when I‘ll be able to get another turtle he was special I had him for almost 20 years 😰 and it was recently so I‘m just taking my time with looking at other turtles 6y

DGRachel @LauraBeth They‘ve been my favorite as long as I can remember. I still have the giraffe I had as a baby that plays music while his neck rolls. 😍 I collect giraffe figurines, plushies, etc. 6y

LauraBeth OMG @DGRachel! I bought that stuffed giraffe that rolls it neck for my daughter. She carried that with her everywhere she went until she was 6 or 7 and she STILL sleeps with it 😂 6y

DGRachel @LauraBeth I slept with mine for a long time. In fact, I managed to bend the metal rod. It can‘t be fixed, as the toy repair guy said trying to bend it back would probably just cause it to break. 😭😭 6y

LauraBeth @DGRachel 😢😢 Her rod is bent too and tore a hole through the neck. I had already broken the music box when she was around three when I put it in the washing machine 🙀 You should snap a pic so I can see if it‘s the same giraffe 😂 6y

tournevis @alisonrose I know! As an academic, I work hard to de-colonize my syllabii. This means, of course, I fail at it, but I fail at it less and less every year. I start with these kinds of things. In and out of the classroom. 6y

alisiakae The spirit animal question is why I skipped this. But hopefully the few Littens that brought up the fact that this is cultural appropriation will help raise awareness about things like this. Same goes for smudging, which I still have to call myself out on occasion. (edited) 6y

alisiakae Yes! I have made an effort to change my terminology, but still slip up sometimes. Smoke cleansing happens in a wide variety of cultures, smudging is a sacred ritual in a culture I do not belong to. I have also started using rosemary instead of sage, since it comes from my own backyard. (edited) 6y
