@OverDrive users, have you downloaded Libby yet? It's an app that's supposed to streamline managing your library loans and borrows as well your reading and listening experiences. I read borrows via my Kindle but love that this app lets you add all of your library cards and see all of your borrows and holds from multiple cards AND multiple libraries, all in one place. I forgot to ask the reps at #ala17 why it's named Libby 🤔So far, I like it.

dariazeoli I just saw mention of this app on Reddit last night and wasn't sure I should down since I have the Overdrive app. My county got rid of Overdrive so now I only use it for Brooklyn Public Library 7y
sprainedbrain Thanks for this info... I will check it out! 7y
Amie I have it. There are a couple of things that it lacks, but overall it's so much easier to use than Overdrive and I love how it combines all my checkouts and holds from both of the library systems that I use. 7y

Lola @dariazeoli I use (and love) Brooklyn, too :) This is actually an @Overdrive app/product. For now, they are gong to keep both ways of accessing and using their content but this app was designed to answer user complaints that the original OD was clunky and difficult to use. I don't have any problems with OD but I do like how this centralizes everything. 7y
dariazeoli @Lola Thanks, just downloaded to my iPhone and iPad. Time to play! 7y
Lola @amie That centralization is my favorite part! Per the @overdrive reps I spoke to yesterday, the goal is to shift entirely to the Libby interface but it will be a gradual process. 7y
Lola @dariazeoli I still have to download to my iPad. Everything is supposed to sync between devices so that will be great! 7y
Lola @sprainedbrain Let me know what you think! I saw it featured on two of my four library OD sign-in pages but completely did not want to engage 😂Then I spoke to the @overdrive reps and it sounds like this is the future so I went in 🙃 7y
bookwrm526 If it fixes the problem I've been having where I used to be able to download the same book on both my phone and my iPad but now I can't, them I'm all in! 7y
Lola @bookwrm526 It IS supposed to fix that so hopefully it does. I noticed today that even if I download a book In my preferred Kindle format, I can still open it in Libby. I have the Kindle app on my phone too so I probably won't need to do that but it's nice that I can. (edited) 7y
Flaneurette Neat! Thanks for the info i hadn't heard of this! 7y
Lola @Flaneurette I think I would have kept on ignoring its existence if I didn't talk to an actual rep about it yesterday 🙃 7y
MaleficentBookDragon Just downloaded it. Thanks! 7y
Lola @MaleficentBookDragon Let me know how you like it! I just learned that if you tap on the image of your library card(s) the image will flip and show you where you stand on hold and check-out limits. Cool feature! (edited) 7y
tpixie @Lola @dariazeoli @sprainedbrain @amie @bookwrm526 @MaleficentBookDragon how is Libby working for you? Can you see all books from all libraries, without having to switch to each library? Thx 7y
bookwrm526 @tpixie You can see all the books you have checked out or on hold without changing libraries - you have to change to the individual libraries to search for books 7y
Amie @tpixie you can see all books you have checked out and on hold from all libraries in one list. You have to switch between libraries to search the catalogs. The only problem I've had is that it didn't save my place in an audiobook once or twice. 7y
Lola @tpixie I mostly love it! I can see all checkouts from all of my libraries/cards (3 library systems, 8 cards) on one shelf. Ditto holds. You do have to switch between libraries to look for books-would love if it would search all of my libraries at once like the OD desk top version does (although I find that software cumbersome and never use it). Reading content is much better on Libby than with the OD app but I mostly use the Kindle app to read. 7y
tpixie @bookwrm526 thx for info! 7y
tpixie @amie thx! I would like seeing all the books in one spot. Sometime if you could request a book and they can scan all libraries at once would be grand! That's a drag!! Hopefully they will fix that bug 7y
bookwrm526 @amie I've had that problem with both Overdrive and Hoopla, it forced me to start placing a bookmark everyone I stop lol. And when I forget and it resets it's soooo annoying 7y
tpixie @Lola thanks for all of this insight. For free reading/listening I use 3 library cards, plus a Kansas Library Card for OD, OneClickdigital- (nowRBDigital) , and CloudLibrary. 7y
