Great slow burn romance, but needed an editor. Some parts felt repetitive and clunky.

I don‘t usually seek out self help books, but this book helped me to start unpacking my belief that clean house = good person. It‘s not nearly that simple or easy.

Unraveling where I learned that also helped start me on a self examination journey that, I hope, has made me a better person.

#SundayFunday Have a wonderful day, and don‘t forget to tag me.

ChaoticMissAdventures I follow her on Tiktok, I really like how she focuses on cleanliness not being a moral issue. You are not a "bad person" if your home isn't spotless, that sort of thing. 1w
TreenaReads I read a bunch of parenting books when my son was born, Generally, I don‘t get much out of them. 1w
konlitsy I generally don't feel drawn to self-help books. Even when I attempt to read them, I usually only get through the first two chapters. For self-help, I sometimes listen to the Bhagavad Gita.

1w
Kerrbearlib Oh wow, I need to read this. Cleaning has always been a struggle for me due to my ADHD & CPTSD. It‘s something I‘ve been deeply ashamed of and it‘s had a negative impact on my self-esteem. I‘m trying to unlearn the negative messages that were drilled into me (“You‘re lazy!” was a common one). Maybe a book like this would help. (edited) 1w
BookmarkTavern @Kerrbearlib It helped me a lot. I especially loved the audiobook. It felt like sitting down with a friend. 1w

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Just what I needed to help motivate me to make my space work for myself and to help remove the shame around having a “messy” house or not keeping it clean enough 100% of the time, which makes me feel like a failure.

Short and fast paced. Recommended to me by a non-litsy friend.

Kitta @Texreader it took months for it to come in on Libby! I returned it early so someone else would get a chance to read it lol. My library has 9 copies and 11 people waiting per copy! (edited) 3w

I almost bailed after the first chapter but, as I told a friend (who did bail!), “I think the sexy parts are going to be well-written so I might stick it out. 😅”

LISTEN.

I wasn‘t wrong.

The astute Litten may notice that all of Jen Comfort‘s books are now on my TBR. What can I say? I‘ll shamelessly allow a couple of initially off-putting characters to win me over if you throw some supreme spice and a Jeopardy!-style game show into the mix. 🥵😜

monalyisha If you‘ve ever wondered what Natasha Lyonne would be like as a contestant on Jeopardy! (or if you‘re wondering now), this book holds the answer. (edited) 4w
willaful I did bail on this one, but maybe I should give it another look. 4w
monalyisha @willaful I don‘t blame you if you don‘t! It‘s hard to judge someone for being “too much” when what they‘re worried about is being “too much”…but Max is a character and the way she‘s written is a whole lot! Although, she actually reminded me of one of my best childhood friends (who I texted and told to read this book 😅). 4w

I did not touch my Penman book this weekend.

“How to Keep House While Drowning“ was absolutely amazing. I feel seen-this book is written not only for those with ADHD, but those struggling with depression, anxiety, and daily pain. This is one of those books I want a copy of!

I bailed on the “Silence“ book. I laid it down and did everything but pick it up on Saturday-back it goes.

A bar fight lands Alex on the tabloids, so Lauren‘s hired to keep him in check. What will happen when they start to spend a lot of alone time together & get to know each other?

I liked this one a little more than the 1st one. It had a bit more funny scenes & good banter. I liked the mfc, just not the mmc so much. I liked the diversity in plus size character & they didn‘t focus on her weight. I wanted just a little more spice.

This is a great book if you are having trouble with your day-to-day house chores, or if you are depressed and feel like every small task is a mountain. I'm not at that stage right now. So it wasn't what I was looking for. My stuff is tucked into cupboards and closets, under beds and inside storage containers. My house is clean. It is NOT organized. I want to purge the house of everything unnecessary. This book made me feel like I'm doing great.🙈

lil1inblue This is a good one to keep on hand in case you need it. I went through some health issues for several years, and this was a life saver.
And you ARE doing great! 😉

ItsAnotherJen @lil1inblue 🥰 Thank you!! I do think think this book has great merit. I will keep it in mind as something to recommend to those who might need it. I think I need to look more into the philosophy behind death cleaning. There is so much to be gained from letting go of excess belongings. I haven't had to move in 20 years, so I've accumulated too much. 2mo
Scochrane26 Therapists in my agency recommend this one a lot to clients. It‘s not for everyone but good for certain people. 2mo

Schnoebs I felt the same way, I did end up following this up with the tagged book. It made me rethink why I‘m holding on to certain things. I‘m honestly thinking about rereading it at some point to make me reevaluate things again. 2mo
Kitta Ive been on the waiting list for this one from Libby for a long time. Why is it so popular right now? 2mo
Reggie Omg, dishes, I leave them for a week and as soon as I do them, they‘re back. I absolutely hate them. lol maybe this book will help me out. Stacked. 2mo
ItsAnotherJen @Schnoebs I'm reading that one right now!! It's exactly what I needed too. 2mo
ItsAnotherJen @Kitta It's the time of year-New Years resolutions are a big deal right now. Organization and getting rid of stuff is one of mine and I think a lot of people are in the same boat. 2mo
Sparklemn The author had an opinion piece in The NY Times last week if anyone is interested in reading it. https://www.nytimes.com/2025/01/01/opinion/celebrating-messiness.html?unlocked_a... 2mo
Kitta @ItsAnotherJen ahhh okay yeah that makes sense then, I forgot somehow? 😅 My library has 85 people waiting. I think I could use it so I‘ll read it. (edited) 2mo
Kitta @Sparklemn thank you! 2mo
ItsAnotherJen @Sparklemn Thank you for the article rec! I can't embrace my messiness right now though, I need to embrace throwing away or donating things. 😬 I think it would be so liberating to own less🎉🎉 2mo
willaful Oh, I highly recommend Dana White's books. She has really practical advice on how to get read of stuff. 1mo
ItsAnotherJen @willaful I read that one this month too! I'm on my 5th book about organizing. It's motivating to listen to them on audiobook format while decluttering. 1mo

This book gives a great representation of a dealing with a disorder in the classroom. Specifically ADHD and the challenges someone with this would face.

I wouldn't have picked this one up if it wasn't for @sebrittainclark 's #AuldLangSpine list but I'm glad I did! This was a really helpful and encouraging book on how to keep your home livable without stressing yourself out more. I don't have ADHD or depression, which is a big focus of the author's life, but anyone can relate to feeling overwhelmed by everyday tasks and she provides useful manageable tips
