Really lost concentration with this book. I was liking it but as it went on it didn‘t keep me engaged. Almost gave up.
Still it‘s another one read from my overwhelming TBR shelf.

A sinister foreboding filtered through every sentence of this tale of neighbourhood boys, the secrets hidden behind the walls of suburban houses and of how children pay for the sins of fathers.
My first audiobook for a month or so and it‘s taken me a while to get into it but starting to hook me now.
Congratulations on the milestone, @MrsMalaprop !
I would love to read the tagged book as the “psychological menace” blurb has me intrigued. And I think it was you who initially brought it to my attention (like so many other great Australian reads)!

#Feistyfeb Day 24 #Bildungsroman I ❤ Sonya Hartnett. She's an Australian writer of children's, YA and adult fiction. Golden Boys is her most recent novel for adults. Her style is accessible and evocative of place, with good characterization. She has a very straightforward, 'Australian' style of writing (if there is such a thing?). Much of her fiction is 'coming of age' including Of A Boy and Butterfly, both of which I also recommend. 😊#ozfiction

OMG. This getting so creepy and good. Can.not.stop listening. I have such a sense of forboding
"With their father, there's always a catch: the truth is enough to make Colt take a step back. There's always some small cruelty, an unpleasant little hoop to be crawled through before what's good may begin." (My next listen)
