This Book Is Dangerous: A Reading Journal: For Those Who Refuse to Be Told What They Can - Or Can't - Read | Nicole Lintemuth

As book banning efforts increase throughout so many areas of the U.S., conscientious reading and the act of seeking out those books at risk becomes even more important. Knowing how to work against such efforts is equally important, because no matter who you are, there are ways you can fight against it. This reading journal provides all the space and record keeping charts and lists you need to keep track of the books you've read, or intend to read, and record how you felt about them, or what you learned from them. What sets this journal apart from other such books, however, is that every spread includes some piece of valuable information about the state of book banning in the U.S. and throughout the word. Inside, readers will find numerous recommended reading lists, made up entirely of books on various topics or in various genres that are currently being banned somewhere in the U.S. The book also includes sidebars and special features into the current state of book banning in the U.S, details of recent (and forthcoming) legislation that bans books, major players in the book banning initiative, and ways that individual citizens can fight back against all of it. Full of attractive, full-color, interactive pages, this book serves as a record of the books you've read, or want to read, as well as a reminder of the books people want to keep you from reading.

I did not realize how very timely this banned book journal would end up being. I thought I would share with the #withthebanned crew in case they wanted to track their reading. It contains a bunch of information on book bans and how to fight them.

The author owns Bettie's Pages, a bookstore in Lowell, MI. I try to support the store with online orders because a bookstore like hers is much needed in that area of the state.

Amiable Excellent, thank you! And totally agree about supporting Bettie‘s … my husband and I lived in East Lansing for a few years when I was in grad school at Michigan State! You aren‘t kidding about that part of the state. (edited) 5d
