swynn @Dilara I can't find any public statements from Merkel about her feelings about the series (and now about the television adaptations). I'm curious too: on the one hand the caricature seems kindly meant; on the other hand, it might feel trivializing. 6d

swynn @rwmg Fair. I find it less uncomfortable for public figures, who in a sense have turned their lives and personalities into public narratives for self-promotion and fair game for criticism. 6d

This is actually the second book in the series. I added it to Litsy but could not find it yet. I really like the Miss Merkel series, a good old murder mystery with the same structure of the Agatha Christie ones. If you know what to expect, you do not get disappointed. And this time something unexpected happens …

This murder mystery employs the possibility of her becoming the next Miss Marple - or in her case Sherlockine or Miss Merkel - because she is bored after retiring and moving from Berlin to the countryside. Who wouldn‘t after being a world leader? Her new life is interrupted by a murder, so she welcomes a new passion: solving murders. It is a very very funny book. 🤣🤪🤣
