My September #bookspin list looks very similar to that of prior months…but that‘s okay! Plenty of opportunities to tackle #mountTBR while still having room for “mood reading”. How is it September?! And, in a very un-New Jersey twist, my kids head back to school this week…in August! What is happening?! 🤣

I think it might be my mood but I couldn't get into this enough to continue. The setting was done well enough but it just didn't hook me at all. I may try this another time.

It's almost September (or maybe already is where you are). Happy almost autumn/spring!
I, for one, can't wait for cooler weather. We are scheduled for a scorcher of a weekend! (40c/103f tomorrow and Saturday)
Anyway hope you will join in #fallintobooks in September!

Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks So ready for cooler weather too!!! 🍁🍂 7y
Jeg Here I'm so looking forward to warmer weather. We seem to be having a last blast of winter right now. Very wet, which we need, and cool. Looking forward to the warm windless days of spring . Perfect for sitting outside with a book. 📚📚🌞📚🌞 7y
Sace I'm looking forward to seeing these posts and maybe doing a few of my own. 7y
arlenefinnigan Ohhhhhhh. This looks so much fun. I wish my books weren't all in boxes. Moving house is rubbish. Hope to join you in October. 7y

A beautifully written story revolving around the beginnings of the Iranian Revolution in the early 1980's. Isaac Amin, a successful Jewish gems dealer is taken from work without cause one September morning. Thus begins both his & his family's terrible nightmare. This story explores the differences between classes and what happens when power shifts. Good read, ending could have been a bit tighter ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

While live streaming my niece's skating tournament, I read about 150 pages of this wonderful debut. Although the storyline is heavy, the writing is light and beautiful making this an easy and pleasurable read. I'm hooked! ❤️Thanks to all of your good wishes yesterday...my niece came in first place today in Junior Pairs!!! #GoHailey Additional congrats to her teammates who finished 2nd & 3rd in Senior Men's skate. 🥇🥈🥉#proudaunt

#RiotGrams Healthy edition of #booksandtreats dried🍏 🍎& almonds 🙂I started Whole30 on Monday ~ other than the horrible headaches, it's going well! Septembers of Shiraz is our April book club choice.

RadicalReader @Cinfhen love almonds nuts are so delicious and healthy not often food fill both those criteria 8y
shawnmooney The book sounds so interesting! The diet, or whatever it is, not so much.... 😘😘 8y
Cinfhen Hehe @shawnmooney the diet is actually very interesting, I'm hoping it will work to relieve aches and pains and lots of digestive issues. But it's definitely NOT FUN🤢 what you reading today??? I haven't had a chance to scroll through Litsy today. 8y

Cinfhen @RadicalReader I'm glad to have all the nuts, except peanut on this program- they are tasty and nutritious 👍🏻 8y
LeeRHarry I loved this book 💕 8y
Cinfhen @LeeRHarry yay! So glad to hear you loved it! I was not familiar with this book or author but the premise sounds good🙂 8y
LauraBeth I'm sure this will make you feel great! I eat a slight variation of the Whole30 mainly to keep my weight in check and it does make me feel good. Hopefully, this will relieve some of those issues you're having 😀 8y
Cinfhen Thanks @LauraBeth I knew it was time to stop complaining and start making changes to my eating. If I lose weight, that's a bonus but I'm sick of feeling sick all the time! I'm glad to know it works for you! 8y
tricours What's the idea with Whole30? 8y
Cinfhen @tricours For 30 days you eliminate ALL dairy, sugar, alcohol and grains from your diet. It's meant to help improve digestive issues, joint pain, cravings, poor eating, give you more energy, sleep better and help you recognize which foods are triggers for you. Other than missing chocolate, I'm doing ok! 8y
saresmoore YAY! I'm sorry about the headaches. It does get better! 8y
saresmoore @shawnmooney Don't hate on Whole30! I'm not one for diets, as a rule, but the discipline from the 30-day fast to free myself from enslavement to sugar cravings was monumental in its effects on my physical and mental health. Just saying. 😘 8y
Reviewsbylola Damn, Whole30 sounds impossible. I am addicted to sugar. 😬 I have been trying to watch what I eat more though. 8y
tricours Oh, I see. The grain part seems difficult for me. Doesn't it easily get very meat heavy? 8y
Cinfhen I'm only on day 3 so I can't really speak on this program but I'm REALLY COMMITTED to lasting the 30 days! It's the sugar for me too @Reviewsbylola that will be my albatross,I don't miss the grains (yet) @tricours You can eat fish, poultry, beef, eggs and almost all vegetables and fruit 8y
Cinfhen I think the headaches are because I'm giving up coffee too @saresmoore which is probably the hardest thing for me to do! 8y
tricours So very meat heavy then! 😛Wouldn't it make more sense to eliminate one category at a time if one has digestive issues? 8y
Cinfhen I thought that too but apparently you remove all triggers from your diet for 30 days and then reintroduce different categories one at a time, I think!?! @tricours 8y
Cinfhen It's like a clean slate 😜 8y
saresmoore @Cinfhen Yes! That's why I had headaches, too. I later reintroduced coffee, only to learn that the combo of acid and caffeine was causing me more problems than pretty much anything else! So, it was worth it for me. 8y
heidisreads If you want to know the #whole30 nitty gritty -- read It Starts With Food by Dallas and Melissa Hartwig @tricours It's fascinating! 8y
drbethandherkindle I hope the Whole30 works for you! It takes a ton of commitment and I could never give up caffeine (edited) 8y
tricours @heidifk I couldn't do it anyway, I'm a bread baker (baked four types today!) and in Norway you usually eat a slice of bread for lunch every day 😉 (i.e. no warm lunch) 8y

Settling in to finish this gripping family love story. Whether Sofer's writing about the brutal daily life of the wrongly-imprisoned Isaac Amin or the confusing ordeal that his young daughter and wife go through at home among the terrifying Revolutionaries of Iran; the details are what makes this family's tale one of shocked desperation. At any moment, life can change. Appreciate the small things.

In Monopoly, too, prison is routine. Even the best players have to leave everything and jump across the board to the dreaded box, missing a few turns while the game goes on.

MrBook Welcome to @Litsy ! We hope you enjoy your stay, I think you'll like it here 😎👍🏻. 8y
