Fables: 1001 Nights of Snowfall
Fables: 1001 Nights of Snowfall | Bill Willingham
13 posts | 26 read | 7 to read
1,001 NIGHTS OF SNOWFALL is both an entry point to the critically acclaimed series and an essential part of Willingham's enchanting and imaginative FABLES mythos. Traveling in Arabia as an Ambassador from the exiled FABLES community, Snow White is captured by the local sultan who wants to marry her (and then kill her). But the clever Snow attempts to charm the sultan instead by playing Scheherazade, telling him fantastic stories for a total of 1,001 nights. FABLES: 1,001 NIGHTS OF SNOWFALL reveals the secret histories of familiar FABLES characters through a series of compelling and visually illustrative tales.

I really enjoyed these back stories being interconnected. However major trigger warnings for violence against women. I'm intrigued by the series but sincerely hope that particular thread isn't a theme. Finishing with 7.5 hrs for #24b42019 but accomplished my goal of 2 graphics and one book!

BeansPage That's awesome!👏🏻👏🏻 I 💕 me so e graphic novels! 6y

This book needs a trigger warning. Lord almighty. Any of you who love Fables: is the rest of the series heavy with violence against women?

cleoh I read the whole series a couple years ago so I don‘t remember which parts were in which issues, but I think the series as a whole is relatively violent. My best advice would be to proceed with caution. 6y
BethM @cleoh thanks. General violence i'm fine with but rape and child murder are a bit much for me. Our library system has a terrible (i.e. Nonexistent) graphic novel selection so I'm always in a state of do I or don't I purchase. 6y
cleoh @BethM mhm yeah. From what I remember, there were definitely a couple instalments other than the one mentioned in the post that relate to those topics 😞 this probably isn‘t the most helpful because I can‘t give you a definitive answer, so hopefully there‘s someone else who has read the series more recently who can provide another opinion! 6y

I really enjoyed it. Snow tells stories like in 1001 Nights. Each story was another fable. The artwork is good too.

Yes another Fables book read today! But after being disappointed for the first time in a Fables book I wanted to check out another one to keep my love intact - this was a great choice, it's just a bunch of individual backstories about a lot of the characters but they provide a lot of interesting information and some of them were actually heartbreaking. This is the Fables I know and love.

First snowfall! It's just a dusting, but my immediate response is to not leave the house, and curl up with a book and blankets and the dog and hot beverages. Does anyone here change their reading habits in the winter? Pick longer books, different genres, etc?

LauraBeth I definitely tend to read longer and books in the winter 😀❄️ 8y
Penny_LiteraryHoarders Yes it just feels right to read those big fatty books in the winter by the fire!! ❄️☃️🔥 8y
