Dusk | Robbie Arnott
3 posts | 2 read | 1 reading | 2 to read
In the distant highlands, a puma named Dusk is killing shepherds. Down in the lowlands, twins Iris and Floyd are out of work, money and friends. When they hear that a bounty has been placed on Dusk, they reluctantly decide to join the hunt. As they journey up into this wild, haunted country, they discover there's far more to the land and people of the highlands than they imagined. And as they close in on their prey, they're forced to reckon with conflicts both ancient and deeply personal.

Ugh! Drivel!

I admit that this is not my thing, but I don‘t think it‘s just a matter of personal taste. I found almost everything about it entirely unconvincing, cliched & predictable. And it was written with such seriousness, not a scrap of wit, while the characters did the stupid stuff that happens in horror movies or survived beatings like the heros of action movies. I would have bailed if I hadn‘t been reading it for book group. #ozfiction

Hooked_on_books Well that‘s a bummer. Gorgeous cover, though. 2mo
Suet624 Love the pissed off nature of this review. 😂 2mo
ChaoticMissAdventures I always think book club discussions are more lively when people didn't like the book 😂 2mo

CarolynM @Hooked_on_books It is, isn‘t it. There‘s some decent nature writing in it too. I think Arnott can write, but based on this and the other one of his I‘ve read, I don‘t think he‘s very good at people 2mo
ChaoticMissAdventures I just saw my favorite booktuber talking about special ordering this and how he keeps meaning to get to it and now I am so curious 🤨 2mo
