I didn‘t connect with the style of writing and not with the characters. I truly didn‘t. Unfortunate but not all can be 5-star reads. 🤷🏻♀️
While I‘m ripping through The Bee Sting at a pretty good clip, I own that one and the library is only giving me 7 days to read this one, Moon Road. 🇨🇦
This was recommended to me as a book for fans of Strout and Kingsolver and so of course I was right in. This story is told in a measured, dispassionate, observational tone which reminded me a lot of Strout‘s writing in a good way. It‘s about loss and hope, connection and disconnection in a marriage, and it‘s one of those stories that just really gets people for all their flaws. Everything about it felt three dimensional and real.
Best book I‘ve read this year - runner up is Claire Keegan‘s So Late in the Day. The main characters are reunited after 3 decades when they get word that their missing daughter‘s bones may have been found on a train on the west coast of Canada. Brilliant prose, every word matters. A gem 5 ⭐️
I cannot say enough about Moon Road by Sarah Leipcigar. I was hooked by the end of page one. The main characters are so well developed, the prose is crisp and sharp, and the story sucks you in.
Really enjoyed this book I would class it as quiet and character driven.
Estranged husband and wife are reunited for a road trip that may finally provide the answer to what happened to their daughter who disappeared over 20 years ago.
Along the way the reader learns about their relationship why their marriage broke up and we travel to the past and learn what really happened to the daughter.
Definitely reminded me of Strout.
I couldn‘t wait for this to drop in 🇨🇦 so I ordered it from the UK. I can‘t wait to dive in.
I ordered my copy. The reviews look great and she could write about wallpaper and I‘d be captivated.
