So this one is kind of funny, however there are two things I don‘t like. As an educator, Junie is not believable as a first grader. The things she writes/says would be more believable for a advanced second grader or an average third grader. The other thing I don‘t like is her disrespectfulness, not only to teachers/parents, but even to her peers. These are my pet peeves though. #teamslaughter

megnews My oldest was about the age for these when they came out. I much preferred Ramona but didn‘t want to ban her from these so we just made sure to talk about Junie B‘s over the top comments. 3y

marleed I thrifted the entire 28-book collection for great nieces this summer. I worked from a checklist and found my last 2 missing books on the last day of summer. I don‘t know which was more fun the hunt or sending them off to my niece for her 2 little girls. I introduced my niece to Junie B over 20 years ago, those books long gone so it was great to do the same for her little girls. 3y
Catsandbooks @marleed That's so awesome!! I bet they really loved that! 💕 I have a fair number of them stored at my mom's right now from my childhood. 3y

#UCFLAE3414f19 Junie B. Jones by Barbara Park is a funny, silly and exciting book series about a neurotic and sassy young girl named Junie B. This particular book “Boo! And I Mean It!” is great for Holiday Book reading and literature circles.

Shannyblake UDL Guidelines: Facilitate personal coping skills and strategies (9.2) I chose this UDL because students who get scared on Halloween may be able to relate to this story. An ESOL strategy I would use is 48. Use group assignments, portfolios, learning journals and non-print options as
alternative assessment.

Shannyblake Since the book is a chapter book, I would read it aloud to the class chapter by chapter. After reading a chapter, I would have students collaborate and go into their literature circles to discuss what we read and how they felt about it.

karlasanabria1 I love your picture! Very festive and appropriate for students in elementary grades. Your UDL Guideline and ESOL Strategy were very thoughtfully chosen. 5y
DrSpalding Your best picture yet! I like the idea of meeting with students after reading a chapter to discuss and enhance comprehension. Scholastic is an excellent resource. 5y
