5 Stars • Victim is a debut novel by Andrew Boryga. It follows the story of Javi, an aspiring writer who cynically exploits his Bronx upbringing and identity as a person of color for personal gain in the media and publishing industry. The book explores themes of identity, race, class, and the exploitation of personal narratives in a satirical and thought-provoking manner.

Even though the ending of this book was predictable, it didn‘t take away from the writing being wonderful and insightful (I highlighted many quotes).
Javi‘s hustle story was not a new one, but it was still entertaining and it gives you something to think about when it comes to how far will you go to obtain external validation and are you willing to pay the price for the risks that you take?
Excellent debut!

Exactly how I feel when non-fiction or memoirs spend too much time giving me statistics…

I wasn‘t trying to play the victim until the world taught me what a powerful grift it is.
Will I finish a book this week? Maybe…In the meantime, let‘s start a new one!
Brilliant! A "POC" (person of color) discovers the benefits and opportunities of false victimhood. And in case you're wondering, no, it's not a biography of Ta-Nehisi Coates. ?
