Another of my favorites comes to a close with Winspear‘s final entry in the Maisie Dobbs series. As expected, the writing is exquisite and the characters richly drawn and developed. While there‘s less of a mystery here and more tying up of loose ends, the story hangs together nicely and is peppered with references to earlier books and events. Such a wonderful series.
I‘m reading an advance copy of The Comfort of Ghosts. I‘ve been reading the Maisie Dobbs series since the first one came out in 2003. This is the last in the series (#18). Jacqueline Winspear has given us a glimpse into Maisie‘s life starting as a young woman during WWI through her life to 1945 as the boys are coming back to England after WWII. I will miss Maisie, but am glad to have a final wrap up of one of my favorite mystery series.
