'A dad's account of heartbreak and hope' Daily Mail In 2017, illustrator and animator Gary Andrews suddenly lost his wife, Joy, to sepsis, leaving him a widower and single father to two young children. As a way of coping, Gary posted a doodle a day on Twitter, illustrating the ups and downs of family life after Joy's death. His drawings, which depict his and his children's pain, love and humour with an extraordinary honesty, have since resonated with people all over the world and have been shared tens of thousands of times online. Finding Joy brings together old and new drawings to tell Gary's story. The result is an astonishingly movingly, often funny and ultimately life affirming book that will help anyone on a grief journey of their own.

I found myself relating to Gary Andrews as he shares his grief journey through his collection of daily comics after the death of his beloved wife Joy. In the last 2 years I've lost my only sibling, our dog, and my dad, in that order. This would be an amazing gift for a grieving friend.

This is a beautiful and at times humorous look at moving through the grief of losing a loved one without any warning. My husband tells me he has no idea how I can read books like this, but they help one see how others have coped. Do not attempt to read this without a box of tissues.

Bookwomble I think that if we avoid exploring and contemplating loss and grief, with mindful compassion rather than morbidity, when bereavement enters our lives we can be lost and overwhelmed. 14mo
Darklunarose @Bookwomble so very very true. I watched my grandpa (who raised me like a father) die of bowel cancer in 19. It was hard but I chose to sit with him for hours every day in the lead up. No one should die alone. My husband was diagnosed with a life limiting disease two years ago. It‘s pretty scary sometimes here but books help a lot. (edited) 14mo
