I finished this cozy mystery on December 31 and forgot to post my review. Edie has suffered a lot of loss in her life and as a result has closed herself off to most people. When a murderer draws her in to his plans she tries to protect her police inspector nephew and figure the puzzle out on her own. I enjoyed this quite a bit even though the MC is hard to like.

An intriguing murder mystery with a crossword setter being Sent jigsaw puzzle pieces as clues to upcoming murders. She sets out investigating this much to the annoyance of her Detective Nephew.

A cleverly structured book, which was very enjoyable to read. For puzzle enthusiasts out there, this book has plenty of puzzles to solve as you read the book.

I really enjoyed this audiobook! Yes, the main character is a curmudgeon and says and does some really nasty things at times throughout her life, but you also get to learn the reasons why (not that it excuses anything) and see her work and grow to be better. The murder mystery aspect was ok at best but overall I really did enjoy it. 🌟🌟🌟🌟

3 ⭐Edie O‘Sullivan is a curmudgeon, who doesn‘t like the holidays, or people, or even her own family. She is a retired teacher in her 80s who spends her days doing jigsaw puzzles and creating crosswords for the London times. But someone is out to ruin her already dreary holidays. Evil shenanigans are afoot when Edie receives a package of puzzle pieces with a note to solve the mystery or else. She gets the neighbor, and her nephew involved,

This was the weakest book by Alexandra Benedict. It wasn't bad, it wasn't good, it was very middling but it was an ok festive murder mystery

This... wasn't great. Probably wasn't even good if I'm being truthful.

I love how lively Benedict's narrative voice is, but this is the weakest of her 3x festive mysteries so far.

Am I going to keep reading them? Of course. They're frivolous (I.e. silly), festive fun.

Am I going to recommend you read them too?

Probably not.

Speaking of Christmas jigsaw murders, this isn't an Xmas one, but it's probably one of my favourite puzzle scenes I've ever created 💕

A fun, quirky and very different Christmas story featuring some zany characters. It‘s quite a clever little mystery with a few puzzles for the reader to solve, too. Lighthearted and humorous with dark overtones, it‘s well plotted and written in an easy and fast flowing style. An entertaining and brain teaser of a read, it had me gripped throughout and kept my attention until the end. #TBC on Facebook
