The authorized biography of the legendary artist, Tupac Shakur, a moving exploration of his life and powerful legacy, fully illustrated with photos, mementos, handwritten poetry, musings, and more Artist, poet, actor, revolutionary, legend Tupac Shakur is one of the greatest and most controversial artists of all time. More than a quarter of a century after his tragic death in 1996 at the age of just twenty-five, he continues to be one of the most misunderstood, complicated, and influential figures in modern history. Drawing on exclusive access to Tupacs private notebooks, letters, and uncensored conversations with those who loved and knew him best, this estate-authorized biography paints the fullest and most intimate picture to date of the young man who became a legend for generations to come. In Tupac Shakur, author and screenwriter Staci Robinsonwho knew Tupac from their shared circle of high school friends in Marin City, California, and who was entrusted by his mother, Afeni Shakur, to share his storyunravels the myths and unpacks the complexities that have shadowed Tupacs existence. Decades in the making, this book pulls back the curtain to reveal a powerful story of a life defined by politics and arta man driven by equal parts brilliance and impulsiveness, steeped in the rich intellectual tradition of Black empowerment, and unafraid to utter raw truths about race in America. It is a story of a mother and son bound together by a love for each other and for their people, and the relationship that endured through their darkest times. It is a political story that begins in the whirlwind of the 1960s civil rights movement and unfolds through a young artists awakening to rage and purpose in the 90s era of Rodney King. It is a story of dizzying success and its devastating consequences. And, of course, it is the story of Tupacs music, his timeless, undying message as it continues to touch and inspire us today.

⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 I love biographies as a way of learning more about history and culture. This was a good, and provided some of that, but it really read like an authorized biography and leaned toward hagiography, especially about Tupac‘s mother, Afeni. That detracted from it for me, but worth checking out if you‘re otherwise interested.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Poet, activist, actor, musician, icon. I have vivid memories listening to him before he passed. Music was so damned good in the 90s. This biography, authorized by his mom Afeni, was penned by a writer who actually knew him. It‘s phenomenal. It‘s such a shame his life was so short.

Tupac‘s life burned brightly for such a short time. Robinson was a high school friend hired days before his death to write movies at his new production company. Before her death, Afeni (his mom) authorized this bio and spoke to Robinson at length. She captured the many contradictions in Tupac‘s life and did a great job of explaining how early influences shaped his music and the man he became.

𝗧𝘂𝗽𝗮𝗰 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗸𝘂𝗿: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗱 𝗕𝗶𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗵𝘆 by Staci Robinson is an emotionally charged story that superbly chronicles the life and death of the late, great Tupac Shakur. This book is heartbreaking, personal, compelling, informative and heartfelt. It‘s everything a phenomenal biography is made of! Pub date 10/24/23 #bookreview #biography #musicbook

I‘ve read quite a few books about Tupac. But I must say, this is the most in-depth account of his life that I‘ve ever read! I‘m only 40% complete and I‘m loving every page! It is the FIRST estate authorized biography ever written about Pac. I think I‘m going to purchase a print copy for my library when it‘s released on Oct. 24th!
