So, I finished this novel based on the true story of kids of Italian immigrants in Switzerland. In the 60ies abd 70ies Switzerland needed a lot of workers and gave work to Italians, but only the workers were allowed to enter the country, not their families. Some of them brought them anyway and the kids had to be hidden. So, the book cover is actually the “world” one of those kids was living in - the house and its staircase, that‘s it.

So, of course I went to the silent reading event and was able to go on with novel we started in my Italian class some time ago. It is pretty heavy that‘s why I never picked it up again after the coure finished.
