This was interesting! Brownell starts with the history of cable, and its founding in places that couldn‘t receive broadcast signals. She looked deeply at how regulation and deregulation played out who it helped and why. But I most enjoyed her look at the beginnings of politicians use of cable with networks like cspan, cnn, and even MTV‘s coverage and the impact it had across various election cycles. May be a bit niche, but 👍🏻👍🏻!

Singout Have you read Audience of One? I found it compelling: alternating between the history of television trends and styles since the 50s side-by-side with Donald Trump‘s career as a TV host, power mogul, and politician. It illustrates really well how media changes have allowed for niches to emerge in audiences and therefore in political choices. 1y
