4 posts | 3 read | 1 to read
#1 INTERNATIONAL BEST SELLER Lisbeth Salander returns, in a trailblazing new installment to the best-selling Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series Also known as the Millennium series Lisbeth Salander is backand maybe better than ever. Karin Smirnoffs take is both respectful of the past and ready for the futurealtogether remarkable. Lee Child, author of No Plan B Change is coming to Swedens far north: its untapped natural resources are sparking a gold rush, with the criminal underworld leading the charge. But its not the prospect of riches that brings Lisbeth Salander to the small town of Gasskas. She has been named guardian to her niece Svala, whose mother has disappeared. Two things soon become clear: Svala is a remarkably gifted teenagerand shes being watched. Mikael Blomkvist is also heading north. He has seen better days. Millennium magazine is in its final print issue, and relations with his daughter are strained. Worse still, there are troubling rumors surrounding the man shes about to marry. When the truth behind the whispers explodes into violence, Salander emerges as Blomkvists last hope. A pulse-pounding thriller, The Girl in the Eagles Talons sees Salander and Blomkvist navigating a world of conspiracy and betrayal, old enemies and new friends, ice-bound wilderness and the global corporations that threaten to tear it apart.

An installation in the Millennium series. I read this as a stand alone book. Originally written in Swedish and translated into English. The characters were different from I expected. I believe I would have enjoyed the book more if I understood the background more accurately. If you‘re going to read it start at the beginning in Book one. 3/5

I did not enjoy this one at all. Maybe my expectations were too high, but it was just so messy. I'm not even sure I know what all happened. It was just...not good. 😒

TheAromaofBooks At least it's off the list!!! 1y
Ruthiella I stopped after the original trilogy. I‘m always wary of other authors stepping in and continuing like that. 1y
Read4life I bailed on this one. 🍁👻🎃 1y
Traci1 @Ruthiella the second guy, David something?, was ok. It was different, less dark and gritty, but the characters were still themselves. This one read like the author had never even opened the previous books. Lisbeth seemed almost meek. Certainly not the character Larsson created. 1y
Traci1 @Read4life good choice. I'm mostly annoyed that I wasted an audible credit. 😒 1y

I‘m sorry to say that I found the latest book in the Millennium series to be the weakest. It takes too long to get going and Lizbeth Salander is almost muted in this book, which is not at all consistent with the character. It‘s also not helped by the audio which actually has her being a bit chirpy in one spot. I‘m willing to give Smirnoff another try if she writes another, but this is utterly skipable.
