4 posts | 4 read | 1 to read
In all of Commissaire Georges Dupins time living in Brittany, there has never been a murder on his home turf, until now, in Jean-Luc Bannalec's The Body by the Sea. A town on the sea, Concarneaus nickname is Ville Bleue, or the Blue Town. With three harbors at its center, visitors can see enormous ships, sailors, fishermen, and the industry that goes alongside it. Because of its geographical location, Concarneau has shown its perfectly positioned to protect its inhabitants from enemy attacks. For this reason and more, including his favorite restaurant, the Amiral, Commissaire Georges Dupin calls this town home. Most of his colleagues are on vacation for the Pentecost long weekend, but Dupin remains. His future in-laws are coming to visit. But what happens when an enemy attacks from within? Dupins plans as host must change when the body of Doctor Chaboseau is discovered. Chaboseau fell to his death, pushed from his home above the Amiral. With only two new colleagues to helpno one else is answering their phoneDupin is tasked with finding out what happened to the doctor.

The end paper in these books are wonderful! This Arctic seal is mentioned as it travels at various points in the book. Another endearing aspect of this read. #Dupin #SixCentSoixanteDeux #Brittanybeaches #BretonLore

Pickpick

This book had all the authors trademarks that I so enjoy: paragraph long, gorgeous descriptions of Brittany‘s sea and sky,Dupin‘s urge & need for a coffee fix before he can think, the imbibing of mouthwatering, seafood, vegetable, fruits, cheeses, desserts, & craft beer. His wife, her father & intrusive mother seem to pop up just as he has isolated himself to “think”,providing a dash of humor.Georges Simenon‘s,The Yellow Dog provides Dupin with both 🔽

kspenmoll 🔼 clues & a framework to help him follow to solve confusing trails & multiple deaths. I have read The Yellow Dog in the past, but now want to reread it given its contribution to this book in the series. #serieslove24 (edited) 2mo
