She has a to-do list a mile long and falling for her coworker isn't on ityet somehow hes become her top priority in this romantic comedy from the national bestselling author of Love in the Time of Serial Killers. Lauren Fox is the bookkeeper for Cold World, a tourist destination that's always a winter wonderland despite being located in humid Orlando, Florida. Sure, its ranked way below any of the trademarked amusement parks and maybe foot traffic could be better. But its a fun place to work, even if fun isnt exactly Laurens middle name. Her coworker Asa Williamson, on the other hand, is all about finding ways to enliven his days at Cold Worldwhether that means organizing the Secret Santa or teasing Lauren. When the owner asks Lauren and Asa to propose something (anything, really) to raise more revenue, their rivalry heats up as they compete to come up with the best idea. But the situation is more dire than they thought, and it might take these polar opposites working together to save the day. If Asa thought Lauren didn't know how to enjoy herself, he's surprised by how much he enjoys spending time together. And if Lauren thought Asa wasn't serious about anything, she's surprised by how seriously he seems to take her. As Lauren and Asa work to save their beloved wintery spot, they realize the real attraction might be the heat generating between them.

This was a sweet little book, with a heap of snowy romance and just enough cuteness. It did fall on the wrong side of too many misunderstandings, but you can see why they happen. Both MCs have a lot of baggage, but they manage to battle through it—with help from each other, of course. The serious themes of homophobia, foster care, and the scars we grow up with all helped keep the book from being too twee, and were handled with delicacy and care.

This was a fun wintery romance book, perfect for the season. I love the idea of a winter theme park in Florida and the setting came to life here. I could picture Cold World very clearly.

Asa and Lauren‘s relationship evolves from work enemies to lovers in a very beautiful way. I love romances that give me a bit more depth. This one dealt with some of their past traumas and I really like how the author handled those issues. 5⭐️

I really enjoyed this enemies to lovers story. The two main characters aren't really enemies so much as unfriendly coworkers because of a misunderstanding. But once they start working on a project together and begin opening up and revealing insecurities, it is a very sweet relationship.
TW for homophobia (the male MC's bisexuality is not accepted by his family)
Also I love the idea of a winter theme park in Florida lol ❄️

This book has EVERYTHING! Thank you @MatchlessMarie for such a wonderful rec!! Would you also recommend her first book?
This really started my reading year off right. Thompson writes with such heart, humor, and STEAM. I loved these characters - full of relatability, honesty, and multiple forms of representation.

#AuldLangSpine @monalyisha

Jemgirl2014 I still need to read this one but her first book is fantastic! ❤️ 11mo
MatchlessMarie I actually liked this one better than Love In The Time of Serial Killers but if you‘re a true crime buff you will appreciate all the references. There‘s also a killer 😜 Nutella Pie mentioned that I have made and is awesome. 11mo

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Enemies-to-lovers rom-com set in a financially struggling winter-themed park in Florida. I love the setting; so quirky and fun. Lauren and Asa constantly give each other shit until one day they realize their mutual attraction. Pretty deep backgrounds unfold as well. A very enjoyable, mostly happy, holiday read. Plus this cover is so charming! #coverlove

Thank you for your #AuldLangSpine list, @MatchlessMarie !! And thank you to the incomparable @monalyisha for organizing this epic event!
The tagged book is the one I‘m going to start with in January, then take it from there. I‘m excited because a lot of these authors are new to me! And some books that I‘ve read from the list are 1, 4, 5, and 17. The Flatshare is an all-time fave. Thanks again! ☺️

Always fun to read a book based in an area you know well…sometimes frustrating too when the details don‘t feel right…

Enjoyed this a lot! I love a romance that manages to balance humour with characters who each have their own traumas that come up in relationships. Here, Asa is a bisexual guy whose parents kicked him out when they found out. Lauren was raised in foster care after age 10. These two had my heart, especially their little opposites-attract, sort of work enemies beginning. Loved the bi rep! Personally I wanted a little more from the sex scenes...

First, I looove these covers! The pop art style is gorgeous and eye catching. I read both of these books yesterday and they were so fun! I love the representation in these books from a variety of body types (with positive messaging), ethnicity, and LGBTQ rep. The alternating POV between Ada and Lauren really allows us to get to know each character. I hope there are more books like these coming from the author!

Emilymdxn I love both of these! This author is such an auto buy for me after reading both of these 1y

I loved this book so much! It was such a feel good cozy romance with some really deep themes and I loved every bit of it. I definitely look forward to more books from Alicia Thompson because I‘ve loved both books I‘ve read by her.

I impulsively bought this at the bookstore yesterday while killing time waiting for my partner's car to be done at the mechanic and I love it so far! I've read quite a few M/F romances with bi girls before, but never a bi guy. Also, if someone forced me to live somewhere as hot and humid as Florida, I would never leave Cold World.
